when Cora trips in the streetMom helps her up, and says well, nice landing at least—this fine city manhole cover
but Cora stops tending her scraped knees to correct her: this is NOT a city manhole—it’s a prefectural manhole!
Mom and I laugh, but it’s true—once you’ve studied prefectural flowers, trees and birds you’ll never
mistake your manhole covers
