My mother’s ashes have a special place in my dad’s house. On top of the urn is her personal Bible, with her favorite necklace, a hand-made cross she hung from her rear-view mirror, and a simple smiley face. She always smiled. Today I added a white rose. She would have been 60 years old today. I’d like to think that I haven’t let her down yet, but sometimes that’s a hard one to convince myself of. I dont believe in a god, or a heaven, but I do like to think that maybe when I die, I’ll at least get to see her again and ask if she’s proud of me. And then I’ll tell her that I’ve missed her so much.
