When You Wish Upon A Star

First star I see tonight, I wish I may, I wish I might, Be granted this wish, I wish tonightI remember thinking about this a lot as a little girl (and even more so today); so much so that I formed certain beliefs about such a rhyme. These beliefs have been based on a particular combination of elements consisting of historical fact, scientific fact, varying religious studies, and horticulture know-how. As a child I simply knew this to be true; the aforementioned rhyme is more of a riddle.
