10 Comics You Should Read This Week

10. Aquaman #51

Creatures have been killing humans on land, and they can attack anywhere, at any time. In this issue, Aquaman will have to work with one of his enemies, Scavenger, in order to put a stop to these monsters. Writer Dan Abnett brought this series back to its roots, so this is an issue you’ll want to check out.
9. Clean Room #7
Published by DC/Vertigo Comics
Written by Gail Simone
Art by Eric Canete, Jenny Frison
Clean Room has been a disturbing journey, to say the least, thus far. Issue #7 is a standalone issue, and readers will learn more about Astrid’s history. If this is a series you’re even the least bit interested in, this may be the issue you want to pick up.
8. James Bond #6
Published by Dynamite Entertainment
Written by Warren Ellis
Art by Jason Masters
Warren Ellis has such an incredible handle on the character James Bond. This issue is the conclusion of the first arc of the James Bond series, so it will be interesting to see how Bond handles VARGR and ending the death drug conspiracy that has hit Britain.
7. Godzilla Oblivion #2

Art by Brian Churilla
We originally started reading this book because it has Godzilla in it. However, the story featuring a world that has never known monsters that suddenly becomes invaded by these giant beasts was really cool. The upcoming issue will deal with the world’s scientists and military trying to find out how to stop the powerful King Ghidorah. Prepare for destruction.
6. Chew: Demon Chicken Poyo

Chew may be coming to an end in a few months, but that doesn’t mean the insanity has to stop. This Wednesday, Poyo is going to Hell. The crime fighting chicken who is more powerful than every ’80s action star combined gets his own comic, once again, for this solo issue, featuring the same creative team behind Chew. If you enjoy a good comedic book, this is up your alley.
5. Huck #6
Published by Image Comics
Written by Mark Millar
Art by Rafael Albuquerque
The end is here for this miniseries from Image. Huck will be battling Orlov to wrap it all up. While Mark Millar has presented an interesting story, featuring a Superman-esque character, it’s Rafael Albuquerque’s art that’s been the star of the show. We can’t wait to see what this dynamite creative team has planned for the finale.
4. Tokyo Ghost #6

This will be a great jumping-on point for new readers. It’s the start of a new story arc, and Flak World’s new CCO will be making some changes to the Isle of Los Angeles. Tokyo Ghost has been a really cool science-fiction series, featuring two dynamic creators. The first trade featuring issues #1-5 is available now, in case you want to catch up before this Wednesday.
3. Extraordinary X-Men #9

Now that readers know who the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are, in the far future, what are the X-Men going to do to stop them? Most people are wondering just what the heck is going on with Colossus as well, since the final page of the last issue was mindblowing. This is the best ongoing X-Men series right now, so you don’t want to miss out.
2. Power Man & Iron Fist #3

Power Man & Iron Fist is the perfect bromance comic. The series has a lot of heart and a lot of laughs, without coming off as sappy. Plus, getting familiar with these two characters will help when the Luke Cage (Power Man) and Iron Fist shows come to Netflix.
1. Divinity II #1

Art by Trevor Hairsine
The first volume of this series was pretty out there in the best ways possible. It’s a series that deals with space travel during the ’50s, cosmic powers, and communism. We’re expecting this series to really build on the first volume, with a new cast of characters. This previous volume was one of the best books Valiant has published to this date.
