Bara Game Roundup - Spring 2016
Spring has finally sprung, so let’s look at what’s new in the world of bara games in the next installment of the quarterly(??) segment, Bara Game Roundup!

Eldet
Featuring artwork, story and music
by the multi-talented Marccus, the upcoming visual novel, Eldet, is set to provide an especially
unique take on the genre. It’s the story of Kunal, a young man who has
been studying magic over the past few years, but has found himself
unable to harness the art. Facing a life of presumed futile effort,
Kunal has decided to leave his place of learning to start out on a new journey. Where this
will take him, and what trials he’ll face are unknown, but I think
it’s safe to say he’ll encounter a striking group of eligible men along
the way. One of Eldet’s main draws is the strong focus on diversity
among the cast, as well as the ability to forgo romantic interactions entirely if
one wishes, so players will have a lot of options as they navigate
through the game. A teaser
is currently available, with a full demo planned for next month, which
will be followed by a crowdfunding campaign, so stay tuned!

The End of Dreams - Chapter Two
With the recent successful release of the first installment of the bara RPG, The End of Dreams, many players are eager to see what adventures Kevin and his band of beefy companions will have next. Thankfully we’ll get to see our heroes encounter more exciting escapades and sticky situations in the next chapter, currently in development by Studio HANA. (Once again featuring HANA’s magnificent artwork.) While no release date has been set, work on Chapter Two is well underway, so hopefully we’ll be able to rejoin the digital realm of The End of Dreams in the near future. For those that still haven’t experienced the first chapter, you can do so now (for free!) by downloading it on the developer’s official tumblr.

Black Note: Legend of Pure Deer Village
Another new game from Studio HANA, not much is known about Black Note: Legend of Pure Deer Village. From the small bits of info that have been released, the game will seemingly tell the tale of a man’s journey to a mysterious village to look into the grizzly murders that have taken place there. From the teaser image alone it seems to evoke feelings of a gritty crime drama, as well as possibly some horror elements, but that is all currently speculation. But if Studio HANA’s first game is any indication, players will have a lot of musclebound action to look forward to!

Viscoscity
Viscoscity, (formally known as Project Feral) is an upcoming RPG, brought to us by the skillful bara artist freakoutduder. Set in modern times, and featuring some supernatural elements, all placed against the backdrop of a bustling metropolis, this game seems poised to offer an exciting, and enticing, spin on RPGs. There are currently not many details that have been released about the project, but with a tagline like “Lead Them // Fight Them // Undress Them.”, I’m sure bara fans will be eager to dive right into the heart of this city. According to the developer, there is a demo in the works, and he will be soliciting feedback from players afterward, so be on the lookout!

Bastard Bonds
Captain GerBear’s upcoming title, Bastard Bonds, is just around the corner, so let’s take another look, shall we? The game takes place in the nation of Crest, where players find themselves suddenly hauled off to a remote penal colony after being convicted of a nefarious act. How will you proceed once you’re thrust into a world where the rules of crime and punishment aren’t always what they seem to be? Boasting streamlined, menu-free combat, over 200 locations to explore, and a pixel character editor bursting with options, this SRPG is sure to please bara fans itching for some daring, dungeon crawling action! A free demo was just released, which can found on the official website, with the full game set to launch on April 29th.
