If you're a writer, time can actually be on your side.

David Seidler, who won the original screenplay Oscar for "The King's Speech," opened his acceptance speech by saying this: "My father always said to me I would be a late bloomer. [big laugh] I believe I am the oldest person to win this particular award. I hope that record is broken quickly and often."
Seidler is seventy-three years old.
There are very few professions where age doesn't matter. But for writing, all it takes is one magnificent work. You might be eighteen with a great story idea, or you might have retired five years ago. It doesn't matter. A great story is a great story.
