Rest

I’ve been experimenting with rest. Sounds like an easy thing to do – right? All I need to do is to lay down in my nice soft bed, cover myself with my duvet and … sleep! But hold on – isn’t this just about the body? What about the mind and all those thoughts scurrying back and forth inside my head – what can I do to make them rest?

Have you ever had yourself a really hard day, one of those where nothing seems to go right? And thenwhen evening comes and you lay down for some well-earned zzzs– y...

Caroline Thompson Sure have. Why just last night, I was busy watching Netflix and binging on Poldark (PBS) to while away the wee hours. I finally got to sleep at 2 a.m.; needless to say, the 6:00 wake up time came all too quickly. So annoying!

Robert Day My alarm went off at 6am this morning too, so I know exactly how you feel Caroline. :) Life!
My wife is into Criminal Minds at the moment and so we're working our way through the box set, but it's so intense at times that it doesn't feel like the relaxation it should probably be. Maybe I should switch to Poldark! Would you recommend it? :)

Caroline Thompson Yes, Poldark is very good, although the reviews warn that it could get a bit Hardy-like as it goes on. So far, so good. My husband and I stopped watching Criminal Minds. It was too disturbing!

Robert Day Know what you mean regarding Criminal Minds. I prefer something like Big Bang Theory myself. I noticed that Netflix has an offer on at the moment - six months free. I wonder if it's worth taking up. What kind of programmes does it have on there? Does it have some of the recent movies and series?

Caroline Thompson We enjoy Netflix so much we don't have commercial (satellite or cable) tv anymore and I have developed a zero tolerance for advertisements. There are lots of tv series as well as movies. Not sure how recent the movies are but it does keep up with series pretty well. We have watched all sorts of things, some that stand out are Foyles War (my favorite) with Michael Kitchen, Justified, the American and English versions of House of Cards.

Robert Day Sounds like it's worth a try - thanks Caroline. I use Amazon Prime at the moment. It's average for entertainment but poor for new stuff.
