Facts About the Author:
1. Which did you find more difficult: writing the book or marketing it? Why?Oh, definitely writing the book. It took three years and several rewrites to figure out where I wanted this story to go. Novels are definitely harder than they look.
2. What is the best advice you received growing up?My childhood teachers always said I could be anything I wanted, but that wasn't really true. Being 5'4" (and female), I'll never play in the NBA. I would never have made it to the Olympics as a swimmer, no matter how hard I worked. (That 5'4" thing again.) I'll never be an astronaut or President or the CEO of a large corporation. But I had a few professors in college tell me that I had a talent for certain things, and that if I worked hard, I could go far. It's that "if" that matters the most, I think. Talent (and height and ability and all that) is a factor, but it's not THE factor. Hard work and determination will get you way further than raw talent, and nowhere is that more true than in the publishing business.
