Game pf Thrones thoughts

With just three and a half weeks until Game of Thrones finally returns for the new season, this seems like a good time for some speculation. Here are five questions prompted by the HBO trailer, and no, one of them is not “Is Jon Snow really dead?”

Sorry to have disappeared again for a few days, but I was dealing with lots of bloodshed and then a deathbed vigil. I know what a shock this will be to my readers—not! Yes, characters will be dying in The Land Beyond the Sea, and not always the ones who most deserve it.
Oh, and Go, Wildcats! Meaningless, I know, except for college basketball fans. Hey, I need something to tide me over until football season starts again.

``Laurie I've enjoyed watching the Wildcats play so much too Sharon. I'm hoping they play well tonight.

Sharon Another fan! Do you live in the Tri-state area, Laurie? None of the "pundits" seem to think Nova can win tonight, but I plan to keep the faith. :-)

``Laurie No, I live in Mississippi and I can't believe I'm rooting for Villanova over North Carolina either :D I like both teams but Villanova seems to have peaked at the right time which has made for a few great games. The way NC handled Syracuse I think they might win this year though.

Sharon Interesting. When people ask why I'm an Eagles fan, I usually joke that geography is destiny. But you just shot that theory down!

Pamela Kay Hawkins Sharon, I'm so sorry about the loss to Villanova last night, but your Wildcats played a GREAT game. My team, the OU Sooners, lost badly to them in the final four. I'm still quite proud of the team!

Sharon It was an amazing game, Pamela. As happy as I was about the Wildcats; win, I felt badly for the Sooners players and fans; same for the NC team last night. I always feel sorry for the losing team, unless they are the Dallas Cowboys, of course. :-) College basketball and football fans seem more loyal to their teams than NFL fans, don't they? NFL fans are quick to turn on their teams when they lose but college fans rally to them, which is nice.

Pamela Kay Hawkins I agree, Sharon. College fans of all sports seem to be more loyal to their teams. Perhaps the lack of loyalty to NFL teams stems from the professional aspect? The NFL players are paid a lot to play, while college players may clinch or lose possible post college careers with every game they play in. The athleticism is much the same; the reward/loss is not.

Faith Perry Sharon, I'm with you on Dallas...and Duke! College fans are much more rabid I believe because we know these kids aren't getting paid and are usually there for a least a couple of years (maybe more so the coaches). Sometimes, we've even sweated in the same halls and quads and the more rabid are often generational; a legacy that is handed down. I love college basketball more than any sporting event - I got to see my beloved Terps win the championship in Atlanta a dozen years ago and it's still magical...not like dragons but you know what I mean.

Collegiate sports are definitely a purer form of sports. It was so obvious that both the Villanova and the NC BB teams loved each other and played as one man with no evidence of ego trips.

One of the best games ever! Towards the end I hated to see Nova lose their lead and they seemed doomed if they went into overtime with all the foul trouble they were in.
Most exciting 10 seconds of sports I've ever seen.

Broke my heart to see the OK and NC kids lose the game though, what a crushing loss for both of them.

Oh no Sharon, your facts are correct when you stated geography is destiny as I'm usually SEC or any southern team all the way. :D

The Villanova team was pure magic to watch and I forgot all regional boundaries.

Always good to find another Duke fan Fperry and I still can't understand the Laettner and Hurley hate. Those guys played some of the greatest BB I've ever seen.
