ThinkingDead

ThinkingDead:

While we’re on the subject of The Walking Dead, I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with Greg Raiewski (”Ultimate Fan” and teacher who appeared on The Walking Dead the other week) a lot lately, about everything us lit nerds/writers appreciate about the series.

So when he told me he started his blog “Thinking Dead,” on his close reading and analysis of the series, I completely dove in and wanted to share it with you all.

What develops between Carol and Maggie is a display of the primitive
fight-or-flight response. Carol wants to run on multiple occasions, both
outside of Negan’s “compound” and within her captor’s safe zone, but
Maggie wants to finish things, to stay and fight. To many, Carol’s
hyperventilating and shedding tears appeared as a physiological
camouflage equal to her cardigan sweaters. At that moment, we thought
she would kill everyone in the room. But what becomes apparent through
the Carol’s interactions, both with Maggie and with Paula, is the answer
to the question: This comes next. Paula asks Carol, “If you were capable of all this, what were you so afraid of?” Carol responds, “I was afraid of this,” and pulls the trigger. Even as Rick lifts his gun to Primo’s head, Rick apologizes, saying, “I’m sorry it had to come to this.”

This is what comes next.

Give it a read before we see what comes next tonight! Also, who else wishes they had a high school English teacher like Greg?
