The Descendant by Ally Capraro
I read this book to help out a fellow indie author. The story line took off right away, and that made the book kind of predictable, but I honestly enjoyed this story. Ava Davenport begins having strange dreams that somehow seem to come true when she’s awake. At first it’s thought to be stress since she’s busy planning her wedding to a man she has doubts about. She’s not sure if he’s the one or not and becomes attracted to the man in her dreams. He’s from another dimension and guards her throughout her life. After calling her wedding off, she goes out with Victor as a favor to her friend. Victor isn’t what he appears to be and Ava finds herself in danger with him. Her dream man, Meldrick, rescues her and takes her away from Earth where she will be safe.
Personally I find the romance a little unbelievable, although to the writer’s defense, Meldrick has loved Ava for years, long before she knew he existed. It’s an innocent romance though, good for young adults.
I won’t give away what happens after Ava is taken away but I will say that the end of this book is a cliff hanger and more is to come.
I rated this story 4 stars. It is a great story and I do recommend it but like I said earlier, it took off right away and didn’t leave room for the imagination to wonder what was going to happen. Considering this is Ally Capraro’s first book, I say she did a good job and I look forward to book 2.
