And the Winner Is...

Decisions are in! I would like to extend a huge welcome and congratulations to the winner of our first chapbook contest Billie Duncan! Billie is a performance poet and author of three books, including Beneath the Desk, which was acquired by Brown University for inclusion in the Harris Collection of American Poems and Plays. Her poems are in numerous anthologies and journals. She is Communications Director for Houston Poetry Fest, Houston organizer for 100,000 Poets for Change and coordinator for Houston Poetry Summit. Her articles, reviews and photography have appeared in dozens of magazines and newspapers. Her current project is The Balcony Poets, a collaborative performance group of poets, musicians, visual artists and dancers. Weasel Press looks forward to working on her upcoming chapbook Requiem for the Plastic Clown and Other Poems!

Publishing information and offers have been extended to our finalists: PW Covington, Max Mundan, Deacon Khet, and Juliane Tran. I look forward to discussing further opportunities with these awesome writers and I can’t think everyone enough for their patience.

I’d also like to thank everyone who participated in our first ever chapbook contest. There were some interesting moments, but it was definitely a learning experience. I’m working on changing some things with the guidelines and hopefully will be able to host another contest in the future. :)
