blog top ten 2016

First up, thank you to Jessica for having me over on her blog – today is a big day. Release day.

To honor that I’m listing my top ten favorite lines from my release, What You Want. Book 2 in the Desperately Seeking Submissive series.

TEN: A quick interchange between my heroine, Laney, and her twin:

A quick comb through her hair, a clip to pull back the long bangs from her face, a swipe of mascara, a coat of “pinky sparkle” lip gloss, and she was ready. “How do I look?”

“Like Cowgirl Barbie.”

NINE: Laney explaining the goal of submission to her hero, Kanoa:

“But a lot of submissive work has nothing to do with sex or inflicting pain. It’s about letting me in here.” She leaned forward and put her index and middle finger flat against his forehead.

EIGHT: And Kanoa’s response to her:

“Do you want me in here?” She poked him again.

He finally lifted his head, a determined, neutral expression on his face. “If you think you can handle it.”

SEVEN: Kanoa’s impression of Laney and what she wants from him:

Her fidgeting movements, and eagerness to touch him told him she liked what she saw and wanted him in ways he’d only been able to signify in one word…dirty.

SIX: Laney’s description of Kanoa to her sister:

“Fine, everything is perfect. He’s hotter than sex-on-a-stick and muscles, everywhere. I think he’s rocking a zero body fat percent. And he’s loyal to his friends, rides a motorcycle—you are seriously missing out tonight, Lace.”

FIVE: Laney’s twin joking about her infamous bench:

Laney shook her head. “Fine. He needs to be forced to submit, to be deprived. He expressed interest in the St. Andrew ’s cross and the bed. But his favorite was my saddle bench.”

“Everyone’s a sucker for the cowboy getup.”

FOUR: Kanoa’s desperation once Laney has him secured:

“Name it and I will do it, Pretty Woman.” How he wanted it to involve worshipping her. To touch her, even. The waiting sent him to new heights of torture.

THREE: Laney’s response:

She approached him, crouching on his left side. Whispering in his ear, she said, “I want you to be silent and taste what you do to me.”

TWO: Garrett, Laney’s friend, and dungeon owner’s pep talk:

The bartender shook his head and leaned closer. “I won’t pretend to know all the details, but I get a lot of folks in here searching for someone to relieve them of their pain. They aren’t seeking honesty or truth, but a way to silence the building storm inside them. The people I’ve rented out those downstairs rooms to provide the answer. Personal information and facts are usually cast to the wayside. Now, I get it. You’re the type who wants everyone to be straightforward because you hold yourself to such a high standard. But, if she’d been honest with you, would you have trusted your pain to her? You expected someone else, planned on someone else, right?”

ONE: Kanoa’s final offer to Laney:

“I think I owe you dessert this round.”

Book #2 Desperately Seeking Submissive

When her sister gets sick on the night of her 1Night Stand date, Laney Malcolm is asked to fill in and pretend to be her twin. Treating it as a lark, she looks forward to an adventurous event with a free dinner and not much else. She isn’t prepared for the fierce attraction nor the urge to help the Hawaiian, tattooed submissive she’s introduced to.

Kanoa Mahelona has spent the last year trying to find himself, but he’s tired of random hook-ups and women who only want him for his bad-boy image. Madame Eve helped his boss, so he turns to her for assistance. Attractive and damn good at breaking through his barriers, the blonde Domme challenges him in a way he can’t seem to turn down.

Only she’s not who she appears to be, and, once the truth comes out, it may be too late to go back.

blog excerpt 2016

She’d been gone for nearly twenty minutes, and Kanoa almost went to see if she had fallen into the toilet or something. Instead, he’d busied himself with cleaning up their dinner trash. The restaurant was big on self-service to help keep costs down. When he’d returned to stand by their table, she walked around the corner from the bathroom and headed for him.

“I apologize for taking so long. My sister called.”

“Is everything all right?” He hoped this wouldn’t put an end to their evening. Neither of them sat back down, and, as the moment unfurled, the air grew thick. So thick, he’d swear he’d been transported to the island in the humid summer.

She smiled, a half grin that didn’t quite meet her eyes but gave him a bit of reassurance. “Nothing at all. She wanted to make sure everything was going okay and ask me to pick up a few things when I go home later. She’s got a nasty bug, snuck up on her really.”

“Are you sure you don’t need to leave?”

“Well, I planned on leaving…with you.”

The end of her sentence lingered as well. An open invitation he merely had to pluck from the air with open arms of acceptance. There were some unspoken invitations, too. No doubt involving a scene during which, he’d be expected to submit. To give her permission to call the shots. The only other time he’d allowed such a thing was in the military, allowing his superiors to control the what, where, who, and how he did things. The why, well, such a question fell beyond his pay grade.

“I’m up for dessert.” He held a hand out to her, and she clasped his large, dark one with her small, slender, pale one. A perfect fit, and he loved how she radiated warmth and enjoyed being touched.

“Do you mind following me?” She asked the question with her head cocked to one side and a mischievous smirk.

“Not at all. Lead the way.”
