If you block them they won't be able to follow you either. Unfortunately there is no real mute function.

That’s fine with me!  I block so few people, I just really don’t pay that much attention, but there are a few who are so desperate to get my attention that it’s best just to put up the cone of silence, I guess. Bleah.
