Paper can be expensive. I found this paper on Amazon for cheap. Neenah Exact Index, 110 lb, 11 x 17 Inches, 250 Sheets, White, 94 Brightness. WIth exchange rate (i’m in Canada) and shipping I paid $38 CDN for 250 sheets. That is super cheap compared to the Strathmore 300 Bristol which I’ve been using.

So how does it look, feel and actually function? The paper is smooth but of a good weight. Below are some photos. I primarily use Speedball Super Black ink with a nib and the paper reacted great to this combo. No bleed as you can see below.

The Pentel brush pen did have a bit of bleed but it was minor. So maybe it’s the ink. I tried a brush with the Super Black ink and it held well, no bleed. Look at the little ball on the second photo. I drew that with the nib and filled with a brush. No bleed.

Microns also worked great. Zero bleed.

Neenah does make a Vellum paper but the weight sits at 67 lb as opposed to this papers 110 lb. It might be worth a try, especially if you prefer vellum to smooth.

If you want a sample I can mail a few of you a postcard sized piece to experiment on.
