Who Do Authors Write for?

I write for readers. And that's the truth of the matter. I don't always get it right. I don't always please every reader every time. But I write for readers. :)
Some authors flat out say they aren't influenced by their reading public. That their stories are their own and when readers ask them to change the direction they're writing, they won't. It's their story, they're the author, and that's that.
But I value my reader's input. Because I'm not writing the stories for myself. I'm writing them for you. And the more of "you" that love them, the more I'm thrilled. :)
Just like I don't like every story I love by my favorite authors, or some authors' works that don't resonate with me, it will be the same with my stories with some readers. It's to be expected. But for the most part, I hope that the stories work--at least that's what I strive for.
I read a lot of reviews of other authors' works because I want to see what readers love or don't love about a writer's work. Why should I care what readers' think of other authors' works? The writing isn't mine, after all. But I could fall into the same pitfalls if not careful. Or maybe there's something endearing that readers' love about another author's writing. What is it?
That's what I want to capture in my own work then. I love hearing from fans and I love to please!
Fangtastic Fiction gave a nice overall review of the Wolf Series, and of Wolf Fever. :)
And I'm thrilled!
Well, it's that time again--TGIF....only, mine is marred by another dental appointment. I'm not being very heroic here--I'm cringing. :)
Hope you all have a wonderful Friday! I'm flower shopping tomorrow!!! Hope to pick up lots of pretty plants for the garden!
Have any plans for yours? Some you want to "weed" out, something new you want to try?
