DANGER: 3 Actions All Christians Must Absolutely Take Now
Danger signals sent electrical jolts through my body.
“I’ve never seen it this bad in my entire lifetime.”
My heart cried out those words as I spoke them into the phone in recent conversation with my mom.
Anger.
Frustration.
Polarity.
Sin.
America is truly at a crossroads. Simply put, we are in trouble–spiritually, morally, economically, politically.
As followers of Christ and Almighty God, we hold the key. The solution. The only hope for our country, our children, and our grandchildren.
And that hope is God.

Please attend the DecisionAmerica Tour in your state or nearby city.In this post I want to share three actions for all believers to take to impact our country for good and for God. All of these I picked up from attending the last week at our state capital, an event which I believe should be attended by as many believers as possible–either in person or through live streaming on the internet.
And it can’t stop there.
If we truly desire to see God lifted up and change enacted in America, we must keep on keeping on in these three must-take actions by every Christian.
3 actions all Christians need to take now! #Pray #Vote #Run

1. DANGER: Pray!
In Ephesians 6, Paul lists the spiritual warfare of every believer: the belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, shoes ready with the gospel of peace, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and God’s Word as our sword of the Spirit. Truly the problems we see and face in America comprise a spiritual battle of astronomical proportions. Suiting up in God’s armor is of paramount importance.
But let us not forget what comes next in this Ephesians 6 passage, for surely it is key to success as we take our positions in God’s army.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints, and pray on my behalf, that utterance may be given to me in the opening of my mouth, to make known with boldness the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in proclaiming it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. (Ephesians 6:18-20, NASB)
I know I’ve said it before, but it cannot be over-stated. We must pray, and pray like never before!!! From a military standpoint, prayer is our direct, 24/7 connection with our Commander-in-Chief!
But don’t take my word for it. Take God’s!
Digging Deeper: 2 Corinthians 7:14; Psalm 107:28-30; Matthew 7:7; James 5:13-16; Matthew 21:22; Mark 11:24; John 14:13-14; Mark 9:29; Philippians 4:6-7; 1 John 5:14-15; 1 John 1:9; 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Colossians 4:2; Jeremiah 29:11-13; Romans 12:12; Psalm 145:18; Jeremiah 33:3; Matthew 18:20; Hebrews 4:16; Psalm 18:6; James 1:6; 1 Peter 4:7; James 4:2; Acts 1:14; Psalm 55:17; Isaiah 55:6; 1 Timothy 2:8.
How are we to pray and what do we pray for?
We pray humbly, expressing our complete dependence on God as our only help and hope.
We seek His face before we seek His hand.
We confess our individual sins, the sins of our fathers, and the sins of America–including abortion, same-sex marriage, pornography, violent and sexually-explicit entertainment in the form of movies, television, and literature, materialism, and complacency/apathy among American believers. We may not be personally responsible for many of these, but we will be held responsible if we don’t do everything within our power to stop it!
We repent and turn back to God with all our hearts.
We acknowledge His sovereignty and our faith in Him.
We pray for His will, which includes overcoming Satan and evil.
We pray for our leaders.
We pray for godly, God-fearing, Bible-believing, and God-seeking leaders.
We pray for the elections.
We pray for the lost and for laborers for the harvest, including ourselves in that number.
We pray for spiritual awakening and revival–not just in America, but around the world.
We pray for a mighty moving of God’s Spirit upon hearts and lives.
We pray for the welfare of America.
We pray for the healing and cleansing of our country.
We pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world.
2. DANGER: Vote!
It is estimated that several million Christian voters just didn’t show up at the last presidential election. Shame on us!
I know that it’s easy to feel like our votes don’t count, especially with the no-longer-needed electoral college in place and the inefficiencies (and downright illegal practices) of various polling places.

But if we don’t at least show up and vote, we are in effect voting for evil to win.
Jesus said it like this: “He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters.” (Matthew 12:30, NASB)
And please don’t be one of those who believe that Christians have no business being involved in the political process. Again, don’t take my word for it. Take God’s!!!
Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. (Exodus 18:21)
Don’t just vote with the crowd so you can be on the winning side. This cartoon I recently shared on Facebook shows the fallacy of that kind of mob mentality:
Food for thought…

And before we vote, it’s important to educate ourselves on the candidates and where they stand on the issues. Please don’t believe everything you see and hear, whether online, on the television, or from friends and neighbors. Find reliable sources and do your homework. The following two photos were taken from .

This short video from a CNN interview with Franklin Graham underscores the urgency of the situation:
And here is an article from 2012 that is worth a read: http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2012/11/19/are-christians-at-fault-for-obamas-re-election-win-rev-franklin-graham-says-yes/
3. DANGER: Run For Office!
I know.
I had the same thoughts running through my head at the DecisionAmerica prayer rally I attended as Franklin Graham encouraged Christians to run for public office.
Who me?
All sorts of excuses unleashed in my brain, my thoughts rampaging at a million miles per second. I don’t have time. I’m not qualified. Who will listen to me? I hate confrontation. I hate politics. (And I could literally go on and on in the excuses department…)
But here’s the truth of the matter. If Christians don’t run, we can rest assured that non-believers will. Do we really want them and their secularist mind-set running our schools, our towns, our counties, our states, Congress, the Supreme Court, and the White House? If nothing else, the last eight years should serve as both proof and warning that this is not the direction we want to go.

If we don’t stand up and take our places, we will deserve everything we get is return. We will be forced to reap what we sow.
According to Ezekiel 33, God has placed us as watchmen for our country and world. What better place to carry this out than as a public servant?
Throughout His earthly ministry, God commanded us to impact our world through both word and deed as the salt and light He wants us to be. That is the message of my recent book The Power of Godly Influence: A 29-Day Devotional Journey in a nutshell.
One way to serve Him and impact our world for Him is through running for public office.
