"furthering the advancement of knowledge" is what used to be called "public lewdness.
The more I look at what a college education can get you for the vast outlay of cash, the more I suspect a lot of people would be happier and better adjusted with a Voc Tech degree that gives them marketable skills. Then they can educate themselves via reading groups without the ministrations of tenured pervs and activists for evil.
