In the spirit of spring: Warmth flooded her veins
He took a step toward her, reached out, and gently gathered her into his arms. He felt so solid, an utterly unexpected source of comfort. Warmth flooded her veins, turning hot and steamy as it moved through her slender body. Maggie trembled, hunger for Noah rising up inside of her like a tidal wave.A strained expression on his face, Noah loosened his hold a few minutes later and peered down at her. “I’ve really missed you, Maggie. I’ve missed the sound of your laughter, and your ability to make the people around you feel valuable. I’ve also missed your smile.”Her chin wobbled. Tears welled in her eyes, but she blinked them back as he released her. And she fought for control, determined not to fall to pieces.Extending his hand, he stroked her cheek with his fingertips. His expression was an odd blending of compassion and something she couldn’t even begin to identify. Her eyes briefly fell closed, and she allowed herself to savor the gentleness of his touch. When he withdrew his hand, she felt the absence deep in her soul.
