Two Covers

Outlander-list-cover This blog is also a post on my official Facebook page, in response to a spirited debate there:

Well, let’s see now. What you’re looking at are the cover of a free giveaway edition of OUTLANDER, at left, and the cover of the most recent edition of Entertainment Weekly, further down on the right, featuring a shot of Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan as Claire and Jamie Fraser.

(BTW, the cover on the left was written by me. Random House, a few years ago, decided to do targeted giveaways of OUTLAN...

Jujubee Dear DG: Your Outlander fans are as diverse as they are many as they are loyal, which is why it's been a pleasure to immerse myself over the years. Thank you, once again, for stating elegantly to your fandom that which should have been clear to many right from the start. Still, the depths of expression that fans will go to is why I love this world...it provides constant entertainment, in so many facets, beyond it's roots! And isn't is what any great storytelling should do? Yup. Total Epicness Here!
(Oh, and I bought the mag and love the graphic novel, The Exile, and the TV series in all there diverse angles. I am a total fangirl.)

Jill Dear DG. I must admit to being a long time reader (20+ years) and really love the cover you show above. As a reader, with the imagination that implies having a willing mind and heart, I can see scenes pass in front of me, remembering examples of each descriptive phrase. That said, I also love the television series, as it brings Outlander to life in such a lavish and real way. Somehow I can flip back and forth in my mind with my original vision of Outlander and the rich tv versions for our pleasure. Thanks for giving so many of your readers and fans countless hours of delight. Oh, I always look forward to more :)

Kristina McGuire Dear DG,
I have loved and repeatedly read your books since first picking up Cross Stitch many years ago. It has been like living a parallel life. You transported me back to the Scotland I had travelled through and lived in as a girl and I was astonished to find you had never visited prior to writing your evocative descriptions.
I really like Claire, and her passion, courage and down to earth practicality. Jamie, of course has the wonderful mixture of youth and innocence piqued by experiences which have made him more worldly and aware than other young men of his era. He brings us his sense of honour, pride, family, duty and his delightful, quirky sense of humour. Your supporting characters are superb and so easy to imagine. So many of my friends have enjoyed my recommendation to read your books and one did a cycle tour with her own gorgeous red haired husband and a copy of Cross Stitch. She said it was well worth the precious space it took up.
