Lighthearted

The traditional definition of the word "gay" is a perfect fit for books by Gay N. Lewis: lighteharted and carefree. Let me introduce you to this delightful author.

Q. What other jobs have you held or do you hold besides writing?
I write for The Texas Hill Country and occasionally I write an article for the Fulshear Star. Now and then, I return to the décor arena. A client called me recently and hired me for a home design update. I confess I enjoyed the décor call immensely. I worked in the interior design field for years and sometimes miss it. I don’t do much of that anymore, but on that appointment, I found that I haven’t lost my touch.
As a pastor’s wife, I work a lot at church. No salary with this job, but I’ve always enjoyed sharing my husband’s ministry. Our church gets two for the price of one.

Q. What was the inspiration for your stories?
I started with Women’s Fiction, and I hope one of those books see the light of day in the future. I joined a local Romance Writers of America chapter and learned paranormal was a hot item. I can’t write about vampires, so I chose a clueless angel who comes to earth to romantically link unsuspecting couples. She makes hilarious messes on her assignments.

Q. Other than Sarah who is your favorite character in your books and why?
I love the Commander. He gives Sarah assignments at the start of each book and reviews her at the end. He is not God, but the Commander is a servant of the Lord, but like God, he is kind, gentle, and loving. He often must correct Sarah, but he always does it in a generous and humorous way.

Q. What’s new with your writing? Anything in progress?
I have two Sarah books started. One is a Christmas theme entitled, Sarah and the Cowboy’s Lady. It will be out at Christmas, 2016. Sarah will have fun with horses in this story. Animals can see her, even when she’s invisible. A pretty lady, a handsome cowboy, and Sarah—all stranded in a Christmas snow storm. Can’t you imagine the mayhem Sarah will cause?
The other work in progress, involves Sarah’s attempts to help a young woman enhance her beauty. She’s already created havoc in The Heavenlies as she plans.

Sarah glanced down again at her diminutive frame. Maybe the petite stature was the reason she wanted to wear stilettos—that plus the fact that they were soooo adorable. Her mouth salivated at the thought of red high heeled sandals. She would wear them on this assignment with a sultry, tight, red, tank-top mini dress—maybe one with an extra low neckline. She could invent a Dolly Parton amount of cleavage. Oh! And she could wear blingy earrings and bracelets to accent the thigh high dress. What term did men use for tall, sinuous females? Sexy, yes, that was it. She could teach the woman to be sexy. Yep, she might make this assignment memorable.
Boom! Roar! Crash! More thunder. Uh-oh. The heavens seemed to be exploding—and that meant she was in trouble.
The Lieutenant’s scowling face appeared. “Sarah! You have permission to use disguises but no extreme masquerades. Holy angels do not select erotic garments.”
Sarah’s shoulders slumped. “Sorry, Sir. I get carried away sometimes.”
