Rachel Alexander did it again!!! Yes. That’s right. Here comes the Hades and Persephone nerding session!
Remember how I REALLY love the story about Hades and Persephone? Oh yeah, of course you do. I talk about them all the time. Well… Rachel Alexander released a book last year called Receiver of Many! AKA my favorite book. Receiver of Many was the story of how Hades and Persephone came to be husband and wife. After a few months of a rocky, but loving, marriage Persephone finds out that her mom, Demeter, has been starving the planet of crops, therefor starving livestock and humans. Demeter has been refusing to listen to Zeus, the ruler of the Gods and keeps starving the mortals out of her grief and fury for her only child was “kidnapped”.
Destroyer of Light starts where Receiver of Many left off. Persephone must make a choice in order save the lives of the mortals. The choice might mean that she has to give up her love for Hades. Balance must be restored and it is Persephone’s job to do it.
