I have a lot of issues with self confidence... I hate the way I look so much. How can I change my viewpoint of myself ?
Make sure that you acknowledge the distinction that self confidence has nothing to do with how you look, how you dress, or any other external quality. Self confidence is an inside job. Treat it as such!
That means that first you have to make sure you’re taking care of yourself, and by that I mean meeting your basic human needs: feed yourself healthy foods, exercise, hydrate, get enough sleep. This is the foundation that will allow you to do the internal work, which is where true, lasting confidence really comes from.
The internal work is the complicated, grueling, long-term aspect, to call a spade a spade. It takes different forms for everyone. Maybe it’s meditating, yoga, writing - pick some activities where you’re truly exploring yourself and in your element, and dedicate yourself to those things. Do them often. Discover yourself every day. Make it your spiritual practice, a “coming to yourself” each day. You’ll flourish, learn a lot about yourself, and find that soul-level “ness” that makes you You!
First you find it, then you embrace it, and then you learn to love, appreciate and cultivate it. It sounds cheesy, but that’s the truth.
Self confidence is a journey - we’re constantly changing, evolving and growing, and your sense of self-worth and confidence will have to be able to roll with your varying evolutions. That’s why it’s so important to check in and be accountable for doing the things above.
I believe in you! I know it’s not an easy thing. But it’s an important thing. You’ve got this!
