March 8, 2016

It's bloody beautiful today, the 8th of March, Tuesday -- yep, we sent all the rain to other places -- if you didn't want it, hang in there, or better yet, send it back. We'll be having more later in the week, which is good for us. We'll try to keep it here, at least for another couple of weeks.

I heard of an editor (I won't name the editor or the publishing house) who is evidently a "closet" writer, got a friend's manuscript, (She's not high on the list and so has next to no power) and proceeded to rewrite her book. I hear occasionally about these folk and sure hope they don't last. It does happen and can you imagine what the writer feels like? My friend was tearing out her hair, not knowing what to do. I told her to call the Editor-in-Chief of the imprint -- assured her they wouldn't kick her out, and with a new writer that's always the fear.. You can't have this sort of person "editing," they should be writing their own books.. I'm surprised this editor has lasted. I'll let you know what happened --

Rebekah That is terrible! Your friend worked hard on her manuscript, to have someone then come in and totally rewrite it, has got to be heartbreaking! I would be so angry and I would fight back and let the Editor-in-Chief know. If this "editor" wants to write a book, they should, don't steal someone else's work and mess with it. That is just wrong.
