The film is based on a series of stories by the actual Spotlight Team that earned The Globe the 2003 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service. Interesting? For sure!


In fact, the film focus on The Boston Globe “Spotlight” team. It’s the oldest investigative journalist unit in the United States.


The investigation follows child sex abuse in the Boston area by many Roman Catholic priests.


Also, the movie stars great (great) actors: Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, John Slattery, Stanley Tucci,Brian d’Arcy James, Liev Schreiber, and Billy Crudup.


Mark Ruffalo gained international prominence by portraying the Marvel Comics character Dr. Bruce Banner / the Hulk in The Avengers (2012) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).


On January 18, 2016, Michael Keaton was named Officer of Order of Arts and Letters in France.


The movie was released on November 6, 2015, by Open Road Films, and it already won many guilds and critics association awards, being named one of the finest films of 2015 by several publications.


Spotlight is directed by Tom McCarthy and written by McCarthy and Josh Singer.

McCarthy has received critical acclaim for his writing/direction work for the independent films The Station Agent (2003), The Visitor (2007), and Win Win (2011). Also, McCarthy co-wrote the film Up (2009) with Bob Peterson and Pete Docter, for which they received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.


The movie received a total of six nominations at the 88th Academy Awards, winning two for Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay.
