Book on 1993 Canadiens Hockey Team Just Pubbed
Riverdale Avenue Books has just published The 1993 Canadiens: Seven Magical Weeks, Unlikely Heroes and Canada’s Last Stanley Cup Champions by K.P. Wee on the heels of the annual NHL All-Star games. This hockey title by veteran sports writer K.P. Wee chronicles the amazing turn of events that gave Canada its last Stanley Cup Championship 27 years ago.
The 1992-1993 Canadiens, whose lone superstar was future Hall-of-Fame goaltender Patrick Roy, were essentially a nondescript team coming off an embarrassing second-round playoff series sweep against the Boston Bruins the previous spring. Yet these Habs, led by the goaltending of Roy and with timely goals from various unlikely heroes, stunned the hockey world by winning a record 10 consecutive playoff overtime games over a magical seven-week run during the spring of 1993. Montreal ultimately captured hockey’s ultimate prize that June—the 24th championship in franchise history—in the last Stanley Cup Finals series ever played at the venerable Montreal Forum.
While the Canadiens had veteran presence in Kirk Muller, Vincent Damphousse, Brian Bellows, Denis Savard and Guy Carbonneau, Montreal might not have won the Cup without unlikely heroes like Gilbert Dionne, Stephan Lebeau and Paul DiPietro scoring goals in the clutch. Others such as Gary Leeman and Mario Roberge, despite not always being in the lineup, contributed in ways that didn’t necessarily show up on the scoresheet. And behind the bench, while Jacques Demers made all the right moves that spring, he isn’t even considered today among the top 50 coaches of all-time.
“If you’re not a Montreal fan, you hated seeing them win. But as time as gone by, you learn to appreciate the fact that this group of men exemplified teamwork perfectly,” said author K.P. Wee. “Yes, their goalie, Patrick Roy, stood on his head. But they had so many overtime heroes along the way, guys scoring big goals playing hurt or contributing even when they weren’t regularly in the lineup. Half the guys were Francophones and the other half were Anglophones, and that could have caused a problem in the locker room... and playing in that media market in Montreal, where hockey is religion and there’s so much scrutiny and so much pressure... it’s amazing they pulled together and won that Cup.”

Riverdale Avenue Books partners with lifestyle magazine Romance Daily News to co-sponsor the Morris-Jumel Mansion’s annual Victorian holiday party. The event will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at the Morris-Jumel Mansion, 65 Jumel Terrace from noon until 5:00 p.m.
The Victorian Holiday Party will feature hands-on family activities (sponsored by Con Edison), a Victorian Christmas themed tour, a holiday reading and Victorian trivia quiz with prizes (sponsored by Riverdale Avenue Books), caroling, and a Victorian Costume Contest with prizes for both adults and children. Built in 1765, the Morris-Jumel Mansion, a historic house museum, is Manhattan’s oldest residence. George Washington was there for five weeks during Revolutionary War and hosted a dinner for his cabinet in 1890. In 1810 it became home to Eliza Jumel, one of America’s wealthiest women. Aaron Burr, her second husband, lived in the room where, more recently, Lin-Manuel Miranda wrote portions of his musical Hamilton. Riverdale Avenue Books has published the final installment in the M/M Celtic SoulShares series, by Rory NiCoileain. The final book weaves together the myriad threads of this compelling paranormal romance in a climax that crosses time and space.
The Marfach—devourer of magick, long-imprisoned mortal enemy of the Fae race—is free of its Antarctic prison. The Demesne of Purgatory—Fae, humans, a Fade-hound puppy, a Gille Dubh, and a darag—is all that stands between the monster and the power it needs to destroy both the Fae Realm and the human world. “When I first started writing the SoulShares, it was the most incredible feeling. Stories came pouring out of me. There were times it felt almost like the stories were alive, like they were writing themselves,” said Author Rory NiCoileain. “Then, as I kept going, something even more incredible happened. I realized that I wasn't just a scribe, I was part of the story, creating it from the inside.”

Sometimes it’s so very good to be bad. And why shouldn’t the villains have their chance at love? If Maleficent can have her happy ending –can’t some of our other favorites?
Riverdale Avenue Books is looking for retold fairytales with a specific twist – the villain is now the hero/ine and has the happily ever after. Wolves win over those who might harm them. Witches seduce and enchant. And good little boys and girls? Well, theirs are the motivations that come into question. Familiar and foreign tales are welcome, just put the villain at the center of your story.
LGBTQ+ and underrepresented characters/voices are welcome and encouraged.
All submissions will receive an acknowledgment email and a response by or before September 7, 2019. Please inquire about reprints. Original, previously unpublished work is preferred. Payment is prorated share of the epub, print and audio royalties split evenly among all contributors, a pdf and print copy of the book. Rights are for seven (7) years, reusable with permission and notification.

Be between 4000-8000 words long (query for longer stories)
Be proofread and edited
Include a HEA or HFN ending
Use Times New Roman 12 point and underline italics
Use ### or *** centered for scene breaks with a blank line above and below
Include title, last name and page numbers in the upper right-hand corner using the ‘header’ feature.
