When Your Author "Makes It"
I have been a literary agent for more than two decades, and I've had many auctions and six figure deals. I've had a number of books on various best-seller lists, but most of them have been one-shot or celebrity books or books that the author and I knew would sell a zillion copies, but the publisher didn't, so we received a low advance and waited two years for the royalty check to come in (reserves against returns).
I have watched many authors thank their agents who have believed in them for years as, after 10 or 20 years of writing in diligent obscurity, or even a dedicated fan niche, they suddenly are out and now everyone knows their name - Lee Child, Charlaine Harris, Lisa Renee Jones, to name a few off the top of my head.
And now it has happened to Cecilia Tan, who is one of my best friend and a client.
I love Cecilia's work. When she sends me an outline, or I have the privilege to edit her (I signed 4 Harry Potter-esque fanfic turned "real" novels by her when I was the Editorial Director of Ravenous Romance, as well as a really hot baseball novel), her work often brings me to tears. I would fangirl her so hard if she wasn't my client and friend.
And now the whole world knows what an awesome writer she is thanks to the amazing Romantic Times Reviewer's Choice Award for Erotic Romance for Slow Surrender, the first book in her amazing trilogy.
Cecilia took my advice when I called her and said, "this is your moment. You've been writing erotica for years, and the world is ready for you. Give me a contemporary BDSM light series that will show the world what you are made of," and she did.
We did not get a lot of money up front from Grand Central. We didn't even get a full promise of print, but we had an enthusiastic, great editor in Latoya Smith, and I urged Cecilia to take the opportunity and see where it would take her. The books were awesome, and got wonderful reviews, which promoted Grand Central to get it on the '"If You Liked 50 Shades" table at B&N, which made it sell.
Fast forward a year later. We have had some amazing foreign sales on the Slow Surrender trilogy, and two concurrent trilogies at two separate houses.
I can proudly state that Cecilia will be chained to her desk writing for the foreseeable future, which is what she has always wanted to do.

Isn't it Romantic? Meeting My New LPA Agent Tish Beaty at RT14
I've known Tish Beaty for a while. She wrote an essay for me in my 50 Writers on 50 Shades of Grey anthology for Ben Bella (http://www.amazon.com/Fifty-Writers-S...) because she was the acquiring editor at Coffeehouse Press for EL James' mega-selling trilogy. She wrote a short story for the Riverdale Avenue Books' We Love NY anthology (http://www.amazon.com/LOVE-New-York-A... ) and I know she's working on her own erotic fiction.
At the beginning of the year she decided she wanted to try life on the agent side of the fence, and I knew she had the eye to find great talent, so I was thrilled to have her work with me as our new erotica and erotic romance agent, who is also taking on some YA and new adult, as well as some nonfiction. And only a few months later, she already has a few sales under her belt, which is awesome.
She lives in the mid-west, so we do all our work via email and over the phone. While you can certainly get a feel for someone's personality over the phone, there's nothing like meeting in the flesh.
The Romantic Times convention in New Orleans was our first face to face, and we hit it off like crazy. She has such a passion for dirty books, and so do I! It is a joy to listen to her tell me about the amazing authors she met here, and how excited she is to take them on. I always feel the same way when I come to RT. It is my favorite convention. I just love the empowerment of my fellow women writers.
What a joy it is to work with a kindred spirit!
And you can show her some love by sending her your queries at tish@lperkinsagency.com

RAB just publishes Sci-Fi Thriller Camden's Knife
"Tense, involving, Camden’s Knife is a smart near-future thriller with a startlingly real sense of plausibility. In a world that's falling apart, can one ordinary person make a difference? Tremendous stuff! Kavanagh can write!”
– Hugo Award-winner David Wingrove, author of the Chung Kuo series and the Roads To Moscow trilogy
Riverdale Avenue Books is thrilled to publish Camden’s Knife by John Patrick Kavanagh, an up-dated version of the science fiction classic Sixers that best-selling author Scott Turow called “Terrific.”
In this near future pop-culture-filled dystopian novel, America is under the dark cloud of a new envirus, Camden-Young’s Disease. Unleashed five years earlier from an explosion at a genetic engineering laboratory, the stealth envirus has laid waste to 74% of Caucasians between puberty and their early thirties while the other 26% are mysteriously immune. From flu-like attacks to excruciating fevers, hair loss, blindness, insanity and death, there is no cure; the only respite available being the Febrifuge Blue line of pharmaceuticals controlled by the Southern United Enterprises conglomerate used to treat symptoms of the target population while also used recreationally by the fortunate Sixers.
Dr. Arthur Camden, dispatched from the company a year earlier by the powerful and merciless executive Trisha Lane, believes a formula for a cure (which would destroy SUE’s incredibly lucrative money machine) is contained in a pair of notebooks seized when he was fired. For their return, Camden’s willing to exchange four ounces of the otherwise unobtainable distillate CY6A4 he purloined just before he was dismissed that Lane craves to manufacture an experimental potion of unimaginable potential.
David Stonetree, Lane’s new administrative assistant, becomes the middleman between the players in this high-stakes chess match, spurred on by the fact that his partner Sharon has just been diagnosed as a CYD-positive. Torn between Lane’s seductive wiles and Camden’s selfless decency he finally takes a stand that could cost him his job and possibly his and Camden’s lives.
John Patrick Kavanagh revisits his masterful novel Sixers, updating it to perhaps 20 years from our present-day, adding compelling new characters, situations, fascinating details and an even more powerful climax.
“I loved this book when I read it 25 years ago, and it has stayed with me ever since,” said Publisher Lori Perkins. “Give me a virus novel with social implications and I am
sold.”
The story continues in Kavanagh’s sequel, Weekend At Prism, with many of the characters returning in Las Vegas for the $100M World Standoff! Tournament and “the biggest rock concert ever held in the history of the Universe.”
Praise for Sixers:
“Terrific,” - Scott Turow, best-selling author of Presumed Innocent and
“(a) well-wrought debut…both engaging and fun to read.” – Publisher’s Weekly
“A stunning debut novel…skillfully crafted…gripping and disturbing…an important new voice.” – Rave Reviews
“A writer to reckon with…engrossing and well-written.” - West Coast Review of Books
“This is a brave, wonderful book.” – Arthur Shay, Speaking Volumes

24 Hour Sale on my RAB Titles for my Birthday
Thank you for all your birthday wishes. I am enjoying the day, but I would love to ask you to pay it forward, so if you could buy a book or give a review on Amazon, Goodreads or our RAB website to one of our RAB authors, I would be most grateful.
However, I don't want to break your bank, and I want you all to read my stuff too (I am actually shy about promoting my own work, believe it or not), so I put one-day sales codes on my two books on the RAB website so you can buy ELECTRO DELUXE (the first erotic short story I ever wrote about that very special relationship between a woman and her vacuum cleaner) and STILL HUNGRY FOR YOUR LOVE (my second volume of zombie romance stories) at half price (which mean $.49 on the short and $4.99 for the book), but the deals is only on the RAB website (because I control it).
So if you want to buy Electro Deluxe, type in the code HBLP
http://riverdaleavebooks.com/books/20...

Riverdale, NY – April 4, 2014 – Riverdale Avenue Books just published the sexy time travel paranormal romance The Sorcerer King and the Fire Queen by Ana Lee Kennedy which is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, RiverdaleAveBooks.com, and other online retailers.
In this novel, Ruby Nutter thinks she has a normal, boring life — well, except for her fiery powers that always seem to create chaos and hysteria wherever she goes, if she lets anyone know about them.
She can’t even keep a boyfriend because she scares them away. And sex? What sex?
Seeking answers, she decides to go on a road trip with her best friend, who just happens to be the spitting image of Marilyn Monroe, to finally silence the voices and stop the images in her head.
Thrown into a quest to solve her crazy dreams and visions, Ruby finds herself thrust into a paranormal war that goes back millennia. With it comes a reawakened love that forces her to remember her beloved Sorcerer king, a love that must conquer all things to keep the world safe.
Best-selling erotic romance author Trinity Blacio said of this novel, "I read this story in one sitting and couldn't put it down. It's one of my favorite books and will read it again, again and again..."
About Ana Lee Kennedy
Ana Lee Kennedy loves writing stories steeped in lore, history, mythology, and her wicked sense of humor. Although she is known to pen hot paranormal and contemporary stories too.
After many actual dreams of traveling the world, Ana Lee hopes to do so soon with her husband and young son, and their first stop will be England. When she’s not writing, she can be found in her flower gardens or at one of the local lakes playing with her son and their creepily intelligent Labrador retriever. She resides in the U.S. with her family, Sir Creepy Dog, two almost-as-smart felines, and a pair of pet ducks.

Third Cat Shifter Novel in Masters of the Cats Series Just Pubbed
Caging the Bengal Tiger” by Best-Selling Author Trinity Blacio Just Published by Riverdale Avenue Books
Riverdale, NY – March 31, 2014 – Riverdale Avenue Books publishes the third book of the paranormal ménage, Masters of the Cats series, from best-selling erotic romance author Trinity Blacio. Caging the Bengal Tiger is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Nobles, RiverdaleAveBooks.com, and other online retailers.
In this book, Bengal tiger shifter Lacey must deal with the life changes that have happened in her female clan as they are wooed by an alien race of alpha shifters and pursued by an even deadlier race of shifter demons.
“Trinity Blacio’s Masters of the Cats series just gets hotter and hotter, and there’s nothing as hot when these female cat shifters go into heat.” said Lori Perkins, Riverdale Avenue Books Publisher. “This is such an amazing shifter series. I’ve never read anything like it.”
Caging the Bengal Tiger starts three months after all the cat-shifters have had their lives changed by meeting a new race of compatible, but alien, shifters. Lacey hasn’t decided whether or not it was for the good. Could her life actually change for the better? Was it possible that the three males who kept following her around were truly hers? Could she really trust them? Was this true love? Or were they trying to cage the tiger seeking revenge?
Isaac Featherstone, Dan Edwards and Anthony Jefferson will fight anyone who harms their woman, including family. Isaac knows they need to collar their Lady Cat, but with betrayal still fresh on all their minds, is she going to trust them with her love? Were they ready to take up the mantle of leadership?
Surrounded by enemies all around them, Isaac, Dan, and Anthony try to protect Lacey the only way they know, showing her that they were not going anywhere. They were there to stay, and her men would not let her down like so many others had. They would prove their love by showing her that she could trust them no matter what is thrown their way.
The first chapter of the next installment in this series, Betsy’s Story: New Ties and New Loves, Book Four is included as a bonus at the end the book.
Also available from Riverdale Avenue Book in the Masters of the Cats series are Collaring the Saber Tooth, Book One and Dee’s Hard Limits, Book Two.

I am thrilled to have published Ethan Mordden’s Passionate Attention of an Interesting Man. Ethan’s story collections Buddies and Everybody Loves You were books I read while coming out, their distinctive Stonewall Inn Editions logo on the spine announcing “gay fiction!” to anyone in the know.
Passionate Attention is a clever, fun, sexy read featuring a brand new novella and four stories. While not quite erotica, it’s still hot!—or as Ethan describes it, “Every one of the stories deals with the relationship of a dominant and submissive male, the daddy and his ‘boy,’ the top man and the vassal.”
In one of my favorite passages, a character says, “Jutter Flexx was not a porn star. He had done some modeling for Colt, and he did become one of their most exploited figures, with his own calendar. In the gay world, this is like being elected President of France.” How can I not love a brilliant line like that?
