We took a day off…and painted a freestanding double garage…

Actually, we’d done most of the prep work, the spackling and such—just had to move some mulch. And I got up and saw it was going to be a high of 73 degrees, and Jane got today off from jury duty, and all we had to do was run down and get five gallons of 25-year paint from Ace (Pocohontas shade, which is kind of a pink/mauve sort of beige that will be pretty well exactly what Jane imaged in the mural picture).

So we fired up that paint sprayer I got (rebuilt Wagner: you can see same in my Amazon s

Jane has her account of jury duty over on her blog…

Interesting stuff. And the sane way they’re using modern communications makes it a lot more reasonable.

Well, it IS Monday, and Jane’s off at jury orientation…

having armed herself with a sketchbook and a bottle of water (she can’t drink Spokane water) and something for the vending machines.

I’m sure she’ll have a report on her blog when she gets back.

I’m going to have to drop by and get some diet Coke—for the Captain and Lime—for when she gets out.

It’s awfully quiet around here. Her cat is sure something is up.

I’m trying to intersperse work with house-stuff, like sweeping up the shredded paper from the shredding binge in the office…and maybe to get the

I thought today was Monday, so I got up at 5:30 am…

convinced Jane had to get down to the courthouse.

But no. Yesterday was the garage sale. Today was the cleanup, and getting the spares over to Goodwill, and getting the garage-sale fodder over to our place for this fall.

And I am just plain wobbly-stupid today. Not a compatible pair of neurons.

Jane declared we could save considerable by getting a deck locker instead of a garden shed, and so we did that. Her other laptop is now malfunctioning: we got these two machines close to the same year, and t

day two of the dreaded garage sale…we’re done in…

Two brutally hard days. But we did it.  Jane wants to do it again this fall. Aaaagh.

omgwhataday. I’m exhaussssted…

We’ve volunteered to help our coach Joan who is going in for surgery to fix a non-skating-related injury—do a garage sale. Now, understand, we have lots of stuff. We’re selling stuff there, too… thanks to Joan’s generosity.

But…we wake up at 5:30 am to realize—it’s raining. So we run out and VIS-queen the garage side, with staples, ladders, etc, during a pelting rain…

And THEN we go over to help Joan with the garage sale. Honestly, if you had to ask me whether I’d rather be shoveling wet dirt in t

the circus continues…44352 for a word count, and Jane comes in this morning with…

…a really upset question: “Were you waiting for me to notice we have to paint the garage mural before we move the dirt in front of it?”

Well, yes, that is a poignant question. I figured we were going to dance on the flowerbeds to do it. But Jane declared the garage wall has to be fixed.

Now, mind, I overslept this morning until *gasp* 7 am, and still got a scene done…but by now Jane is out there trying to fix the loose boards on the garage, which the builders had goofed on: just flat missed the st

Closed Circle update

We talked to Lynn last night, who is working on the technicalities. She says she now has a program she thinks  will make Joomla! behave and give us the site she designed, and she is working on getting it so we can easily update it. Once that happens, we will be very little time in getting some content and some purchaseable substance up there.

so what fun did we have today?

Let’s see…I got up at 5, wrote two scenes, until Bren was refusing to inform me what happens next, then went out to join Jane in the garden. I’d promised to pull the iris, which have finished blooming. That’s a 20 foot bed about 3 feet wide, and you know how iris can multiply. I’d marked the ones we wanted around the pool, so here I am using a mattock to get the iris up, and carefully reading their leaves for inscriptions to tell me what pile they belong in.

This necessitated several breaks for c
