Giant ants take over the World….

I hate to install ephemeral links, but this one is too good…and the headline is irresistible.

The shopping cart works. We have Paypal. We're this close…

We are now structuring those areas of the site that need content. Lynn is still working on the selkie-skin, but the internal functionality is there. I made a token 'purchase' from CC this evening and it went through. I've got the product codes and prices up. Now I have to:

1) assemble the e-books and get them into both formats. About an hour each.

2)get the copyright filed on them…an e-file process, but one requiring attention and sanity. About an hour's process for all 3.

3) get the details like t

Another day in the Inland Empire…

Which is what they call our district. The Emerald City at one end of the state and the Inland Empire at the other…

It's getting hot out there. Jane got up at an unprecedented 6am (8 is her usual) to go out and paint the mural while it was cool, even cold, such are the vagaries of life near the mountains. She'd wiped the central mountain yesterday, and today put it back again, while I went off to renew our membership in the skating club (FSC) before we got booted from our warm locker room. This tu

closer and closer to opening the doors on Closed Circle…

Big news: today out of the blue we heard from one of the old Thieves World crew—which was great. I can't say her name yet, and no, I will not answer questions on that topic, but say when Lynn gets the Thieves' World area up, it's going to be really exciting. Lynn will tell you more herself when she finally gets to work specifically on her stuff.

Lynn reports we now have a shopping cart, and we think the buttons work, and she is very happy. Lynn's working on the Paypal link even as we speak, and b

Progress on the book—getting warmer out there, too…

Nothing too bad, but I'm very jealous of my best writing time, early morning; and Jane is sensitive to strong light—so our best way to paint the garage is in the time before the sun has gotten too fierce, or Jane gets a headache. So we hope for cloudy days, of which there do not seem to be many, lately.

And the intense light has increased algae growth in the pond: the koi love it. They live in a 4000 gallon bowl of food, and only need treats now and again— but it also means I have to pull the pre

Closed Circle now is Joomla!-fied! There's still paper on the windows, but now the shelves are being stocked: Lynn called last night…

…to say she's done the very scary move from her machine to the host, and it did not blow up our blogs, our websites, or Closed Circle…which is to say, it works! It doesn't look the way it will, but as of last night, we can start building the text and creating the forms…

Our theory is that we will have one central 'store' where you can buy things—the last thing we want is for you to have to rummage through three different methods of selling stuff, or wade through undergrowth when all you want is t

45837 words…and if you are new here, do not hesitate to comment…

…or to register.

We may sound like we're all old friends here, but most of us didn't meet too long ago, and it's time to say—do not be shy about commenting. We're a friendly and well-mannered lot, and we welcome newcomers. Just chime in on whatever topic interests you or ask a question or whatever. We're so varied, it's likely that someone will know or have a clue, and the rest of us just get smarter as time passes.

What are we about here? Well, it's sort of the world's longest queue-up for e-book

Microsoft is announcing Win7 deal.Question: can a 64 bit machine run 32 bit programs?

We think we’re still in the same situation as before: if we’re forced to get a new laptop, it will come with Vista, and we will have a free Win7. But read the CNN article.

And meanwhile, my question above…anybody know the answer? Is there provision for it?

A day to be indoors: it’s warm out there…and we’re tired.

We’re catching up on accounts, straightening up the house, putting things where they belong (some stacks since March)—and in general are having a clean-up day. I’m anxious to get started on the mural for the garage wall: a little trepidatious—ever since I did a background for the big aviary we had down in Oklahoma, Jane has had a notion I do nice landscapes.

Plus my highschool art teacher, the redoubtable Velma, had us learn art history by doing the styles of various eras and cultures. (Egyptian

Lynn Abbey reports a breakthrough moment…

She’s been working on getting Joomla! to accept our structure, and she reports she has had a conceptual breakthrough. We are a major, major part closer to opening our ‘doors’ to traffic.  As soon as Lynn tells us we can get access, we will be all over it. Jane’s USB stuff came through. And that means the Wacom board can connect to the desktop, to do covers.
