I am refusing to discuss anything but cheerful topics…
…for at least a couple of days.
Making progress on the outline, the pond is waking up, the trees are trying to bloom, and I finally got the right genealogy file to load. After all the madness I'm taking time for that hobby, during the evenings while watching telly. I was afraid I'd lost it. But in with some of mom's things I was able to trace her mother's immediate family, which opened up a whole bunch of traceable lines where I didn't have any. So I'm chasing those down. Also it's been so...
Easter Sunday, and the koi have waked up with a little appetite.
It's been bitter chill and windy ever since we took the lawn up…so cold I haven't been able to wash out the filters for the pond (two of them are lying on the patio drying out, but not washed, because the water is like ice) and am down to my last useable filter: if the weather doesn't warm I'll have to put on the rainsuit (which can make you pretty warm) and get out there and hose down the filter inserts.
The koi are still sheltering under the winter-shelter and huddling near the bottom...
Pirates are pirates…
And that's that. You don't own, hold or lease the copyright and you advertise an e-copy for sale, you're a pirate.

pssst. Jane's got her pen back…
The date had nothing to do with it, I swear.
The next Bren book (the just-finished manuscript) now has a title…
Betrayer. Betsy Wollheim thought that up. It so works.
No, I haven't got a date yet, but I will mail the book in next week.
You'll note that the one after that, Intruder, now has a progress bar. —–>

The sword and sorcery story IS NOW UP on Closed Circle…
Here's the deal.
It's a free download. It's only in bare-bones PDF, because it's not finished. The picture—I borrowed from Jane, from her slide show. Has absolutely nothing to do with the story, understand.
Do understand, too—it's not finished. There is an outside chance it will never be finished.
It could end up being a novelette. Or a novel. I don't know.
We're using the regular donate button, so if you want to support the project, designate it S&S and we'll know what it's for. When...
Going to put up the sword and sorcery story on Closed Circle…
I'll post here and tell you when I get it up.
Here's the deal.

Do understand—it's not finished. There is an outside chance it will never be finished.
It could end up being a novelette. Or a novel. I don't know.
We're going to set up a special Donate button specifically for that story. So when donations reach a certain inspirational level, I'll write another bit toward resolving it. Or…in the way of the writing...

Abandoned universes…the publishing scene…
I've gotten several queries today about more books in this and that universe, and for Foreigner, the answer is good.
One thing that has been so, so difficult is the number of times I have had to create a universe for some reason, then find that the publisher has been gobbled up by some oil company or the like, and they have now replaced my editor with someone who comes in with a different set of objectives…a view of how they want their line to work, and by definition, that's got to be...

A very sad post: Azureblu has left us…
I just received an e-mail that states that one of our very active members has passed away from a long illness. Deepest appreciation to a very warm and wonderful member of this site: we will miss her very much.
Done. The new Bren book is ready to ship to NYC.
A little shorter than some. Not that much shorter. I'm happy with it now. Real hard to dissuade that crew from opening another can of worms, but we are finished!
Jane is getting ready to put up another of the Ring books.
She has not located a pen, but a new one is winging toward her as we speak, scheduled to arrive on April Fool's.
And now we have to hit the tax reports and the accounting.
