Drury Jamison is not a bestselling author, yet. But he believes hard work will prevail. He has been writing since he could read beginning with, what we now call fan fiction, stories about favorite DC Comics heros. Since then he gave all his attention to the story at the expense of the rules making rewriting very important.

Born an Army brat he finally settled and came to call the Missouri Ozarks home. While raising wonderful kids and failing at everything else, he wrote screenplays, television scripts, advertising copy and filthy limericks. After many twists, and multiple once-in-a-lifetime life changing events, he returned to work on the short stories and novels he loved best.

I decided to create dominant female heroes after wondering how women would react in the situations that male MC heroes would encounter. That led to the idea that they could not be the typically written female main character. I needed something different. Then I decided to write with strong romance and things simply clicked. A strong woman is interesting. A strong woman expressing herself and sexuality is fascinating. How often do we get to see it in books? It was such a pleasure to write and a completely different kind of relationship.
I decided one thing up front though, no harsh-bitch stereotype allowed.(less)

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Drury Jamison I set goals, reasonable goals based on what I have shown myself capable of. I used to require myself to produce 2000 words a day. It was not a bad goa…moreI set goals, reasonable goals based on what I have shown myself capable of. I used to require myself to produce 2000 words a day. It was not a bad goal for someone with my time limitations and skill. But it turned out to be too high for my everyday goal. I actually created a spreadsheet that logs my daily word count and gives a running daily average and my weekly average. It is good enough for me to keep up a 2000 word a day average. I don't kick myself either if life gets in the way and I don't keep up. It happens.

So dealing with writer's block for me is largely part personal philosophy-I don't believe in perfection I believe in the best I can do-and routine goal setting. Don't agonize about the right words or the right direction for the story. If things aren't working, just write. It is easy to delete or cut what's bad but writer's block is self fulfilling doubt. Writing something, anything, can erase the doubt.(less)

Counterfeit Dom First Chapter
