I'm not quite sure how old I am in dirt years, but it's up there anyway. I am an educator and freelance writer who has been married more years than I was single. I love reading YA fiction because it doesn't get stale. YA authors are not afraid to experiment. I love that. I dabble in screenwriting and playwriting and would love to sell a screenplay or option one of my books for a screenplay and then write the script. I have published some plays, but I don't write many of them anymore. My first love is YA fiction, though I read everything from the classics to King to Koontz. I am a diehard St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan. Currently, my wife and I reside in Ironton, MO with two dogs and two cats. Our daughter and son-in-law live in Poplar Bluf ...more

When he looked at himself, he staggered backward because his forehead was rolling like the waves in the ocean, and then blood exploded all over the mirror.(less)

This was an entertaining if not mesmerizing read. One of the ways I judge how much I like the book is if I can put it down or not. If I put it down and never pick it back up, I don't like it. I didn't read the Graveyard Book all the way through in on ...more

Sharp Objects is a satisfying read. I thought the characters were, well, interesting, for the most part though I didn't find any of them sympathetic really and not particularly likable, not even Camille with the psychological damage she had suffered. ...more

Full Dark, No Stars is, as the title suggests, a dark novel full of violence and human degradation ... and I couldn't put it down. The more I read King's novellas, the more I like them. In my opinion, he gets too wordy in some of his novels, and I ha ...more

I can't rate this book a five for a couple of different reason which I'll get into in a moment. I have a short attention span, and for me, if a book is extraordinary, I can't put it down. Every single spare moment I have, I read the book until I fini ...more

I won't add any spoilers here for those who haven't read this, but I will say that I liked it. A lot of it was predictable, but not in a horrible way. It's like watching a movie when you know what is going to happen to a character, but the character ...more
