Winesburg, Ohio

Winesburg, Ohio Winesburg, Ohio by Sherwood Anderson

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are tons of reviews about this book, so I'm not going to get into the literary significance or the life of Sherwood Anderson, although his life is very interesting and will make Hemingway fans see their hero in a new light. Tragic.

I will say, if you're thinking of reading any part of this book, I highly recommend the story Sophistication. I read it first in high school and it brought up feelings of a journey ahead. Excitement. In my later years, it is more nostalgic with underpinnings of sadness. It's amazing how a story can live like that. It can change with you. I feel like George Willard and Helen White are close friends of mine that I come back to visit every year. Each year, they change and reveal something new about myself.

Readers

This is my first book that's been published. I've had book sales in the US, Europe, and Asia.

I find it so amazing that someone in India is reading my book. Someone so far away - that I will probably never meet - is taking time to read about characters I created. There are people in Europe that don't speak the same language as me reading my book.

I'm not writing this to brag...far from it. I'm nowhere near a well-established writer. I'm very much a newbie.

Every writer must feel this way at some point (or all the time). I don't think I'll ever get over it. A stranger half a world away is reading something I created. I don't think I'll ever fully understand that.

This has been such a humbling and inspiring experience for me so far.

New Website

If you haven't visited the website for the series, make sure to check out www.cmpendleton.com.

I'm looking forward to writing a bit here in the coming days. I couldn't be happier with Of Darkness & the Light. The first book in the series, A Dark Tyranny, is doing very well. It recently hit #28 in the Amazon Kindle Fantasy list.

I really enjoy people contacting me to tell me which character(s) they enjoy or asking questions.

I'll write more later.
