Inspiration Behind Irresistibly Yours by Andrea Boyd + #giveaway
Inspiration behind Irresistibly Yours by Andrea Boyd
For anyone who has had a bad marriage, the whole “I’ll never get married again” speech isn’t surprising. One conversation with a friend regarding this, plus a series of dreams, birth the idea of Irresistibly Yours.
My heroine in the novel, Vivian Emerson, feels the exact same way and with good reason. Her late husband made the last half of their twenty-year marriage miserable. Unfortunately, his death only added to that misery. It would take a whole lot of convincing for Vivian to believe another marriage could be different.
Enter Bo Manning. He shows up and wrecks her plans for the single life. On more than one occasion, he comes to Vivian’s rescue without expecting more than friendship in return. Oh man, is he good-looking! And sweet. And he’s faithful. Bo’s a great dancer, and wow, is he a great kisser. Who could resist, right?
Irresistibly Yours is about friendship, love’s second chance, and reflects God’s irresistible call. I hope you enjoy this Southern contemporary romance.
Snippet: Craig Emerson would turn over in his grave if he could see her now. Rolling down Highway 22 toward Myrtle Beach, windows down, radio blaring a classic rock station, the wind blowing through her short hair, with a three-inch wedge sandal pressing down on the accelerator. No one—not even his wife—ever drove his orange and black, 1970 Plymouth GTX.
“Craig, are you seeing this?” Vivian Emerson had been talking to her husband this way ever since his death almost a year ago. After this weekend, she decided these little talks would come to an end. There had been plenty of things for her to get off her chest—things she had wanted to say while he was alive, but he would never listen.
So many times in the past year, she would go out to the garage, sit in Craig’s car, and pour her heart out. Sometimes she would talk quietly while tears streamed down her face, and other times she would yell. But this was the first time she’d actually driven his car. So far, her one-sided conversations on this trip had been backed with laughter. This trip to the beach would be her last act of letting go. She was ready.
Question: The hero from Irresistibly Yours is an amateur gourmet cook. The heroine… not so much. When it comes to cooking, how would you label your level of expertise? One randomly chosen comment will receive an e-copy of Irresistibly Yours!
Each of Andrea Boyd’s series represents a different genre but all fall into the category of romance. All offer an element of her own brand of humor. And all are a tribute to God.
Besides writing, she loves spending time with her family, quilting, going to car shows, and driving around in her 1968 Barracuda convertible.
Andrea lives with her husband, Tommy, and at least a couple of cats in York County, SC.
Vivian Emerson has decided to stick with the single life from now on. An already ruined marriage ended with her husband’s embarrassing death, leaving her wanting nothing more than to put it all behind her and start over in a new place.
Bo Manning hasn’t even considered remarriage after the death of his wife, until Vivian arrives sparking his interest with only one tear-filled look. Despite Vivian’s resolve, Bo sets out to patiently woo her.

Surrendering for the Team by Patti Shene
SURRENDERING FOR THE TEAM
My granddaughter’s high school basketball team is winding down the 2018 season. This week, I and several other fans gathered at our home town high school gym to attend the “pigtails” game, with the winning team moving on to district competition. We won the game by a narrow margin, indicating the teams were evenly matched in skill and ability.
Each player on both teams did their best to add points to their team’s score. Fans decked out in our home team’s Trojan blue shouted encouragement and cheers from bleachers on both sides of the court. The crowd roared and thundered their approval each time a basket was made or a defensive block occurred.
Yet, one young lady stood alone that evening under the lights of the gymnasium. Dressed in red, she represented the cheerleading squad for the opposing Chargers. Undaunted by the overwhelming number of home team fans, she shouted her heart out to the handful of Charger fans in attendance.

Despite my desire to see our team claim victory, I felt a great deal of admiration and respect for this high school student, who, against incredible odds, made her voice heard above the crowd.
She never lost faith in her team, their fans, or most of all, herself. She cheered her heart out for a cause she believed in. She was there to do her part, to support the girls in red on the court and on the bench, and she fulfilled her role with pride.
Her presence required guts, to shout encouragement for her team in the face of the home team’s screaming fans. Her dedication demanded determination to repeat her routines and her cheers against the larger number of cheerleaders rooting for the home team. Her loyalty showed commitment to friends, family, and fans.
She surrendered her comfort and vulnerability for the benefit of her team.
Her perseverance reminded me of the stand we as Christians are called to take in our daily lives. We are expected to set an example to others, even when it’s not easy. When the shouts of the naysayers drown us out, we are to proclaim our message into the fray, even if it falls on the ears of only one other person.
When no one else is willing to brave the opposition, we have a responsibility to meet the challenge anyway.
Even if we have to do it alone.
We must honor our faith’s basic beliefs with such strength that our behavior inherently manifests itself amid the deafening roar of the majority.
We are commissioned to champion the cause of Jesus Christ, to love others at our own expense. We are required to sacrifice for other people even when it’s uncomfortable, or inconvenient, or difficult.
We can trust our Savior to equip us with the tools to accomplish the mission He has assigned each of us. Whether in the workplace or at school, in our churches or our organizations, with our neighbors or family members, we all have the opportunity to surrender our insecurities to Christ and the cross.
If we each manifest as much loyalty to our Savior as that one young lady did to her team on a cool evening in a small town high school gymnasium, the kingdom of God would be glorified with the power to change the world forever.
Patti Shene Gonzales hosts Step Into the Light, a weekly blog talk radio show, where she interviews guests who ‘lead others out of darkness…and back to light’ through their personal experiences or ministries. Patti invites published and pre-published writers to post on her two blogs, Patti’s Porch and The Over 50 Writer, found on her website, www.pattishene.com.

Blessing Birds by Janetta Fudge-Messmer
Blessing Birds (a Christian Comedy Romance) is the fourth book in my Early Birds series. The Stevenson’s, Wilford’s and Miller’s continuing to do what they do best – helping humanity and having fun while getting it done. This time though, helping their fellow man takes on a whole new meaning.
Please check out Blessing Birds back cover:

The Early Birds leave Florida and are on the road again. Their plans are to visit as much of the East Coast as possible during the summer months. As with other trips, their forward motion is hindered, and they haven’t crossed the Georgia line.
Most people would call their delay a Random Act of Kindness, but when you’re dealing with the Early Birds, they come up with their own name for helping humanity. “We’re Haphazardly Handing Out Hospitality. Wherever a need arises.”
It shouldn’t surprise anyone, helping others occurs in the strangest places: A busy street corner, a laundry room, and even a public restroom in Washington, DC. As Rose says, “The Early Birds are spreading small snippets of God’s love everywhere we go.”
As with the other books in the Early Birds series, this one will tickle your funny bone too. Climb on – it’s sure to be a ride you won’t soon forget. You never know where the trip with the Early Birds will take you, while they’re lending a helping hand.
I had a blast writing Blessing Birds, but three quarters of the way through – I wanted to throw my manuscript into the fire and never write again. The ending eluded me and no amount of brainstorming, or time away from my computer, brought the story in for what I wanted – the perfect landing.
But, as always, the Lord had it all figured out. When I stopped trying to write in my own energy and actually listened to Him, the ending came to me and I typed THE END. “Glory Hallelujah and pass the turtle soup.” Once again, I found out I cannot do anything without the Lord by my side.

On the Other Side of Awful
I don’t think I met one person who said 2017 was a good year. For some, it was downright devastating. For us, we had our health, and blessings we don’t take for granted. However, the kids had harsh things to walk through that I knew was a “refiner’s fire.” Things they didn’t choose, that weren’t consequences of sin, that was to grow them.
It was awful.
It took me awhile to realize how hard their hurts impacted me. I became anxious, worried about their futures. I fought the temptation to jump in and take over, fix, and become what we joke is their “Beverly Goldberg.” As over-the-top the show is, I get why the mom from this show wants her kids close and their enemies closer. I get it.
This year things are already better than they were last year. Our daughter is in a healthy environment where she is believed in and cheered for, just as she is. Her smile is back, and she’s trying new things like student council and meeting new mentors through respite night opportunities.
Our son has a group of friends that he can laugh with and grow with that he has things in common with. His work is steady and he continues to have classes that are online, something that saves him gas money and allows him to be flexible in his schedule.
This year my word is abide, and that makes sense. As always, if it’s come up once, it’s come up a dozen times—the verse in John 15 about Jesus being the vine and we are the branches. Last year’s awful drove me to a new place in faith. The high school mentality I had about my faith wasn’t enough. I’d open a book long enough to get some reading in, and basically phone my time with the Lord in.
The other side of awful showed me how much I needed to cling to Jesus. Anxiety is a cruel thing, and I don’t like it on me or anyone I love. I find the more I stay close to that “Vine,” the fewer anxiety moments I have. I’m seeing things I was too distracted to before, and feel more sensitive to things I would never have noticed before.
The other side of awful gave our daughter the vision to want to help others who may have similar experiences as she did last year. She wants people to know they matter, and they are amazing treasures.
The other side of awful gave our son new opportunities and people to connect with. Without the painful circumstances, they wouldn’t carry the perspectives they do.
I knew motherhood would be full of sleepless nights, the need to establish boundaries while building them up in their love languages. That there would be repeating lessons as well as answers. I anticipated going to bed in tears out of exhaustion and fear I’d failed them. I never read a book or heard anyone warn me that as they grow older, their hurts would rock me to the core. So if you’re in that place, how I’d love to give you some chocolate and tissues.
I can say that it is a season. I believe for everything that was meant to destroy, we as a family were willing to learn from it and say yes to opportunities stemming from that time. Those broken places the kids had last year are catalysts to bring hope to others walking in similar situations.
The other side of awful is like seeing the sun peak out after a storm. Finding the clearing after being in a forest.
Whatever visual you have, it’s good. Good enough to press through with faith in the awful.
Chocolate optional.

Product Review: Commercial Silk, Artificial Plants
I’m used to doing book or CD reviews, but it’s new to hear from a company outside of that realm. A few weeks ago I was asked if I was interested in reviewing a product from Commercial Silk, a product from their artificial plants. I chose a product and it arrived faster than I expected.
I chose the hanging basket geranium, red.

Can I be honest?
I’m not a silk flower fan. I think over the years what I’ve seen families do is take dollar store flowers and plant them, trying to pass them off as the real thing. It was easy to tell. Then, colors would fade, and it was even more obvious. It looked like an eyesore.
This hanging basket looked real coming out of the box. It is made so that it is protected from the UV rays. The color is vibrant, and it was fuller than I expected. For a silk flower, it looks real and beautiful to me.
I hung it outside to get a picture and the red geranium just pops against the background.
Bottom line? I’m really impressed!
This hanging basket made me a believer. Silk flowers can be used and not look fake. I’m really glad that I gave it a chance.
If you’re looking for anything from decorations to sympathy flowers, Christmas trees to topiaries, flower baskets to palm trees, Commercial Silk.com/Artificial Flowers has got you covered.
I invite you to look at their wide selection at Commercial Silk.com and Commercial Silk.com/Artificial Plants

Music Review: Passion Whole Heart Live #PassionWholeHeart
WHOLE HEART by Passion Music
About Album

Music Review: Passion Whole Heart LIVE
Info about Passion http://passionmusic.com/story/ “Rooted out of the Passion movement, we are committed to leading people towards renewed intimacy with God and fresh encounters of worship. Passion is more than music. More than events. Passion is a generation living for His name.” WHOLE HEART is the new live album from Passion—captured at Passion Conference 2018 in Atlanta, GA.Passion Conference 2018 was a beautiful worship experience, and the live album captures each powerful moment, allowing those who were not in attendance to experience it. Featuring Passion Artists: Kristian Stanfill, Melodie Malone, Sean Curran, Matt Redman, Crowder.
Review:
This live worship event is the next best thing to being there in person. For those that start listening who are in a mood to praise, that need will be met with songs like “Great are You Lord” and “Hallelujah, Our God Reigns.”
If it’s encouragement or a fresh touch you need, I think every song delivers. Standouts to me were “Reckless Love,” and “God, You’re So Good.”
I’m easily distracted but the music immediately engaged and I found it easy to be in a place of worship. This is a CD I know I will have on repeat. I love it!
Here’s a list of songs and performers from Passion: Whole Heart
01. Whole Heart (feat. Kristian Stanfill)

02. Almighty God (feat. Sean Curran)

03. God, You’re So Good (feat. Kristian Stanfill & Melodie Malone)

04. Reckless Love (feat. Melodie Malone)

05. Heaven (feat. Sean Curran)

06. More Like Jesus (feat. Kristian Stanfill)

07. Hallelujah, Our God Reigns (feat. Brett Younker)
