Spring is tonight!

While I’m working with Community Authors on my submission to the Wild Rose Press I am overjoyed to hear that Spring is tonight.

But…

Where is it?

In fact, I have three guys shoveling off my back porch right now in anticipation of tomorrow’s snow/rain storm that could flood my city Halifax.

Spring!

Maybe we all need to start doing Sun Salutes and pull the rays of sunshine and Spring warmth to us through Yoga.

I’m going to be promo-ing Game On! through Eye on Romance next week, then Author Buzz and with Coffee Time Romance.

Thanks to all those who gave me a review!

Here’s a pic of green hills in Napa. Wish I was there!

Summer in Winter

I knew in my gut that making a trip to Florida could be hindered by winter snow storms.

But, I also knew when I booked the Florida RWA Fun in the Sun Conference months and months ago that I would need a break from winter.  I knew that my writing would need a “jolt” to keep going and keep moving.

Thanks to the great members of Florida RWA the conference went well and I really enjoyed myself.  Keynote Julia Quinn’s workshop on dialogue was incredibly helpful to someone like myself who is constantly working on her writing craft.

So when the snowstorm delayed my flight by a full day I hoped that winter would not stop me from making the cruise.  I event was prepared for the wild idea to meet the cruise in Cozumel, Mexico by plane!

Alls well that ends well in life and romance fiction, right? I made it there.  Got on board.  Had successful pitches and was able to find times where I could just chill on the balcony of my room in the sun – writing!

Sure, there was a huge party going on the entire time with the other people on the cruise.  And, let’s not talk about those Gluten Free Cupcakes I ate. ;)

I little bit of sunshine in the Canadian winter is a great prescription for motivation and a writer’s conference helps, too.

Book Trailer release for Game On!

I’m so excited to share with you this opportunity I had to work with Jennifer Fusco and her team at Market or Die for a book trailer.

I really love it!  Game On! Never to Part and Never to Love isn’t releasing until October 27th, 2014 but I had to share this trailer now.  Too good to keep hidden until October!

Announcements! So excited!

First of all, again… special shout out to the eWomenNetwork for this great opportunity to have my own story told on personal loss and starting my own business.  As a coach it is especially rewarding to get the direct messages on Facebook and Twitter telling me how people are excited to read, share and express their own experiences in business and in life.

The book, “Succeeding Through Doubt, Fear & Crisis” is available on Amazon here:  http://www.amazon.com/Succeeding-Through-Doubt-Fear-Crisis/dp/098917929X/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1409316125&sr=1-1&keywords=succeeding+through+doubt+fear+and+crisis

What’s great is that I am searching for places for a small launch party in October/November when I get my own copies.  I’ll also be at Head2Toe handing them out as door prizes on November 16th, 2014 at The Cunard Centre, Pier 21, Halifax, N.S. Canada.

Second of all… *insert drumroll here* I am so stoked to say that I am releasing two short stories in an ebook through Amazon’s publishing program and Kobo’s Writing Life on October 27th, 2014.  This is my first real committment in years to my writing.  To have it go through a freelance editor, cover page design, book trailer slides, formatting, ISBN, copyright and so on.  I love this entire process and I’ve received so much help along the way.  My #gratitude posts will start in October as a slow build to the release date!

I’m working on getting my contemporary manuscript through edits and finished this year to send out for submission.  Time seems to slip through my fingers when it comes to writing.  I do love it all, though no matter how my process works.

What a great journey.  Special shout out to Scribe Wenches, CTRWA, NJRWA among others.

NYT Bestselling Author Yasmine Galenorn – Review

I just absolutely love Yasmine Galenorn.  *fan girl*

I met her at RWA2012 and RT13.  She wasn’t at RT14 this year due to an injury.

So.  Let’s get to her final book in the series I was so addicted to I pre-ordered from the Seattle Mystery Book Store so there would be a signature in each book from her.

The series is:  The Indigo Court

The book is:  Night’s End.

One of the most dramatic and suspenseful conclusions to a series I have read in a very long time.  The character Lannan really comes alive in this stunning, sweeping war that Fae Queen Cicely has to finish.  And, it is up to her.  She has a tied past with the Indigo Court especially its Queen Myst.  One of the most powerful messages that Cicely learns is protecting her barrow and the structure of the society means making hard decisions.  Decisions that can end friendships but retain loyal, unwavering subjects.  Instead of being dehumanizing in her choices Cicely balances the power she now has with the home she longs to make.  At war with herself on most of the decisions she sees instead a future without the gruesome feedings by the Indigo Court and a world run by darkness.  Allies from different factions approach her with help but she barely has enough strength to see each battle through.

The description of the society is well done as Myst attacks the police force in the human world in an effort to seize control and reign in fear.   Instead of showing fear, Cicely rallies her allies and they work on a battleground strategy involving vampire, Fae, magic, Otherworld and human contributions.

I don’t usually love Epilogues but I was reading this one avidly with my own hunger to know more.  To see more before the series was done.  To have the future Cicely fought for “be.”
