Bad Blogger/Bad Writer

I am fully embracing this title because it is 100% TRUE! I am terrible at this blogging thing. I’m terrible at all things social media. Do I mean to be? Nope. Do I like engaging with readers on the internet? Absolutely! So let’s catch-up!
I’m sure those of you who read my books are wondering what the heck is taking me so long with getting Luke’s book completed. That’s been the most popular email I receive, and everyone gets the same reply, “I’m working on it, I swear.” And it’s true. I am working on it. But here’s the thing … writing is not my full time job. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … I wish it was, but sadly it is not. My life goes Family & Friends > Home > Work > Writing. I have a husband, two kids (that are growing up way to fast), and two beloved pups that I soak up as much time as I can with because, cliché as it is, life is too short. Writing was a lot easier seven years ago when life wasn’t so busy. When I wrote WHEN THE HEART FALLS I banged that out in a month. A month! Granted, it’s not my finest work, but it opened the door for me … and I do love Dylan and Misty J My family grew after that and writing took the back seat. I love writing, I really do, but I love my family more so they will always win. But I’m drifting here, so let’s get back to Luke.
Luke’s book is currently around 30k words (I’m aiming for 80k-90k). This book has been extremely difficult for me because it’s Luke. He’s been dodging relationships for the past two books and, gosh darn it, he’s still dodging them. I swear I this is pretty much exactly how I’ve felt writing this book so far because I've been so focused on thinking about what readers may want instead of listening to my character's and letting them run the story …Image result for now kiss meme
I don’t like my stories feeling forced or rushed, and that’s how I’ve felt throughout the process of writing Luke’s book. This will be the third book in my MCKADES OF TEXAS series, and since Luke has made his appearances in the other two books I feel like readers have big expectations for his happily ever after. I honestly feel like he’s been a reader favorite, and as much as I love that (because he’s one of my favs too) it scares me to death because I feel this immense pressure to make his story so amazingly fantastic that I’m over analyzing every little detail instead of just writing the damn thing. But I am writing the damn thing. I just need to work on my time management and overcome this fear of disappointment. Not trying to be a downer here, just trying to keep it real. I willcomplete his story. It’s a good one (at least I think so) and I really hope that you all will enjoy it once I finally get it done.
I just want to say, thanks for sticking with me!

I’ll check in again soon!
XOXO,
Kim

My "The Substitute" by Denise Grover Swank Review

The SubstituteThe Wedding Pact Book #1Hilarious USA Today bestselling wedding romance!Megan Vandemeer meant  to tell her parents about her broken engagement, but a month and a half later she finds herself boarding a plane home to her wedding. Having stretched avoidance to its limits, it’s to come clean–a terrifying prospect since her mother is sure to blame her rather than her cheating, emotionally frigid ex. A couple of drinks and two Dramamine later, Megan finds herself spilling her sob story to the tall, dark, and handsome stranger in the seat next to her. With only one week left to save his business, Josh McMillan boards a plane to Kansas City in a last-ditch effort, leaving the details to chance. An unexpected answer is delivered in the form of the beautiful brunette beside him. Though she’s completely loopy, her honesty, openness, and humor charm him. So when she passes out before landing, he helps her off the plane–a good deed that leads to a colossal misunderstanding. Her parents assume he’s her fiancé. In a twist of fate, the mix-up might help Josh save his business, so he plays along, figuring he can help Megan too. All he has to do is stage a public break up convincing enough to appease her mother.Josh is only supposed to be a substitute groom, but the more time he and Megan spend together, the more their pretend engagement starts to feel real…and the less they want to break it off. Can a relationship that began as a farce turn into happily ever after?Purchase Links:
CURRENTLY FREE (FOR A LIMITED TIME) iBooks Amazon US. | Kobo Google PlayMy Review:Megan is getting married … or was supposed to be getting married until she caught her fiancé cheating on her. That was six weeks ago and the planned wedding is in, oh, three days. Anxious about telling her family that the wedding is now off (and has been for weeks), Megan hops on a plane from Seattle to Kansas City to face the wrath of her control loving mother … but, as with any great love story, fate intervenes.

Josh’s business is failing, thanks to a major whoopsiefrom his older brother. Needing to save his employees from threat of job loss, Josh grabs the first flight out of Seattle and ends up seated next to a beautiful woman who just so happens to be related to Josh’s person of interest in Kansas City, Megan’s father. After a horribly dangerous and embarrassing reaction to Dramamine mixed with alcohol, along with one HUGE misunderstanding, Josh now finds himself posing as Megan’s fiancé, unintentionally placing him in the perfect position to get the information he needs to save his company from going under. But saving his business almost becomes an afterthought as the deeper he gets into this con the harder he falls for his fake fiancée.

The story that unfolds after this setup was AMAZING! I honestly don’t think I can say enough good things about this book, but I’m going to try. One of the first things I think I should mention is that Megan and her two best friends were “cursed” as kids by a fortune teller at the fair. The curse states that each girl’s wedding will be doomed and that each girl will end up marrying someone other than the man they were supposed to marry—their true love (Megan and her friend Blair don’t believe in the curse, but their friend Libby is a firm believer). Also, each of the friends makes a pact to marry before their thirtieth birthday.

Okay … back to this story …

I really liked Megan. She had such a kind heart and I felt so bad for her and all the crap she had to deal with: her cheating ex, her control freak mother, and finding out that a complete stranger was posing as her fiancé. The girl was just running into one thing after another, but the only problem that ended up being a solution was Josh pretending to be her fiancé. Josh was another one of those kind-hearted souls whose ultimate goal was to save those he cared deeply about. He’d put his own life on hold when he inherited his father’s company, but when he meets Megan something clicks and he finds that he wants to take care of himself for once—to give in to that pull drawing him to her. The more time these two spend faking their arrangement, the more they realize that what they have isn’t fake at all. But not everything is sunshine and roses. Josh and Megan face quite a bit of drama that comes with a relationship built around lies. Secrets are revealed and friendships are tested, but in the end these difficult situations lead to a whole lot of healing that brings everyone closer together.

I LOVED Megan and Josh’s story. I swooned, I almost cried (and I rarely get emotional over books/movies), and I laughed a lot—loud and obnoxious laughing at that … thanks mostly in part to Gram (oh my gosh, I loved every bit of her page time!).

If you enjoy reading romances full of humor with some pretty steamy scenes and plenty of moments to warm your heart than I definitely recommend you check this one out!

Disclaimer: I purchased this book for my own reading enjoyment. These thoughts are my own and no one twisted my arm to write a review for it.

The happiness she seeks is within her reach…
When Misty Prescott moved back home to her parents’ ranch after catching her husband cheating on her, she couldn’t have possibly known that she’d fall for not one but two cowboys at the same time. Nor could she have known that getting involved with both men would bring unwelcome excitement turning her already messed up world completely upside down.
… But is she willing to pay for it with her life? As Misty’s relationship with Vance Kinney begins she can’t help but develop an intense attraction to her best friend’s older brother, Dylan McCoy. But just as Misty makes her choice she indirectly becomes the target of one horrific event after another. Now Misty must fight the very obstacles that threaten to tear her apart from the man she loves, and survive the danger lurking around every corner that threatens their very lives.
