Amber Affairs

I am so busy writing and editing and keeping up with all the side effects of a writer’s life (blogs and Facebook and research and meetings and. . .) that I have failed to announce that the next Crystal Magic is up for pre-order! If you’ve been following the series, you’re familiar with Amber, the tarot reader. She has a past. . . and lot of chaos in her future that her cards didn’t tell her about! Azure Secrets

I have been so inundated with revisions and edits and covers
and promotions that I sometimes forget to come up for air. In case you haven’t
already noticed, I’ve updated the covers for my Crystal Magic series. While I
adore the silhouettes for my mysterious romances, others complained they didn’t
let readers know what kind of story they are. So I’ve been working with my
brilliant cover artist Kim Killion to come up with a concept similar to the
original but adding faces I hope you’ll like better. What do you think?

I started with AZURE SECRETS, my March 19 release, and since
then, we’ve updated the first three books in the series. And I have the cover
for AMBER AFFAIR, my May release, but I’ll wait until the book is available for
ordering before posting that.

Thank you for your patience, and now I’m diving back into
this final edit. . .

The Last Chance Christmas Ball

This year has positively flown by. Somehow, I managed to produce three novels and three novellas, while traveling to the UK and Scotland and taking a wonderful tour of western national parks. I like to use the end of the year as a time to celebrate what we’ve accomplished, and I think my proudest accomplishment may be working with the AARP and its sponsors to help establish an elementary school reading tutor program. There may have been bad periods, but this isn’t the moment to look back on them. Celebrating the good helps us move forward. In a few weeks, we’ll be planning what we’d like to do with the new year. Start with looking back on the old! What did you accomplish?

Wedding Novellas

I’ve been playing! After writing the three Crystal Magic romantic mysteries, I needed just a little more romance for the couples, so I gave each of them a romantic novella. The Wedding Gift, Samantha and Walker’s story, is up for pre-order now. The Wedding Question, Teddy and Kurt’s story, will be up soon. And The Wedding Surprise, about Keegan and Mariah, is with an editor and should be out by November. Please let me know if you enjoy the follow-up novellas!

Sisterhood of the Traveling Writer

I’m just back from the United Kingdom, having attended the Romance Novelists conference in Yorkshire with several of the Word Wenches, followed by a research trip into Scotland with Mary Jo Putney. I love traveling, but it’s even better when you have the company of someone who understands why it’s necessary to photograph every inch of a two-hundred-year-old croft house. Exchanging writerly war stories and brainstorming new plots over a bottle of wine really enriches the experience!

I’m back just in time to remind everyone that the third book in my Crystal Magic series–Crystal Vision–will be out August 7th. If you haven’t looked into the series yet, it’s a contemporary take on the descendants of the psychic characters in my various historical Magic series. I’m loving playing with the idea of people with odd abilities dealing with the modern world. Even those with paranormal gifts try to explain them scientifically these days.

But what I’m really loving is developing a truly special fictional town in the Santa Cruz mountains—a place where science and magic might divide the inhabitants, but they still have to work together to survive. Take a peek at an excerpt and see what you think!

Spring Cleaning Complete!

I had no idea it would take this long to clean up all the pages and make them mobile friendly! There are still a few stray errors IT Guy and I haven’t figured out, but what’s here is dusted off and up to date.

While the website was in the cloud or wherever it goes when we shake it out, SAPPHIRE NIGHTS was released. I hope everyone had a chance to read the excerpt. In this first book, we don’t really see the Malcolm/Ives connections much, but as I dig into the town and its history and inhabitants, more and more starts surfacing. So join me for this wild ride into how the descendants of my magical families are doing in the 21st century!

Spring Cleaning!

Pardon our dust but we’re doing a bit of spring cleaning around ye old website. We’re dusting off old covers, replacing the badly worn ones, updating buy links, and doing a bit of reorganization. And because I live in a creative world that doesn’t organize well, it takes half a dozen people to slap my hands and put things back together again.

So if you’re looking for a sequel to some of the series titles, they’ll be back, I promise! Just be patient with me because I simply cannot see words without editing them, and some of this cover copy really needs a good scrubbing.

And for your patience, here’s a sneak peak at one of my NYT bestsellers and its brand spanking new cover. (Anyone know where that phrase “spanking new” comes from? I shouldn’t get distracted and start hunting it down!) The other covers are equally fantastic, thanks to the brilliant Kim Killion.

And when I’m done cleaning house, I’ll get back to editing the two new contemporaries about the descendants of Malcolms and Ives now living in California… I’m getting there, really, anytime soon now!

The holiday season is almost upon us and I’m rushing around attempting to reissue some of my favorite oldie goldies while preparing for a long trip and getting ready for Christmas. Think the flight attendants will mail my holiday cards?

But I think I’ve at least got the reissues ready! They’re set for release on December 5 but available for pre-order now.

I’ve grouped together some of my early books like LOVE FOREVER AFTER and SILVER ENCHANTRESS into a series called Dark Lords and Dangerous Ladies. If you enjoy the older, meatier historicals, please give these a try! I have a Beauty and the Beast story, a highwayman, a wayward duke’s daughter, marriages of convenience and so much more!
