Often referred to as “the teenage whisperer”, Hannah R. Goodman’s twenty-year career working with teenagers includes the titles teacher, tutor, coach, and, more recently, mental health counselor. Though she has previously earned the title author with her first three books, the last was released in 2009 and all were self-published. This time around, indie publisher Black Rose Writing is releasing Till It Stops Beating on July 5, 2018.

Most recent in her writing journey, Hannah has begun to write articles about mental health for various online publications. Her work has appeared on MindBodyGreen, OC87 Recovery Diaries, and The Mighty.

I'm not sure of the exact date of the next issue of our anthology. Submissions are opening for 24 hours only on March 16th, 2015, 12 am through 11:59 pm. To answer your other question, I have dabbled in poetry and written articles and columns. Currently I'm writing an NA (New Adult) novel. Experimenting is good and I wish I would do it more! (less)

Reflection on: Friendship over Forty

This is my first post in a long time. I've been reflecting a lot about my writing and trying to be more open and exploratory in what topics interest me. Friendship is something I've wanted to write about for a long time. In fact, this piece has been in the making for almost a year. I finally feel like it is complete but was hesitant to post it right now due to the state of the world with the coron Read more of this blog post »

Fannie Flagg
“Don't give up before the miracle happens.”
Fannie Flagg, I Still Dream About You

“I ended up dropping out of high school. I'm a high school dropout, which I'm not proud to say, ... I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me. But I had other teachers who said, 'You know what? This dream of yours is a hobby. When are you going to give it up?' I had teachers who I could tell didn't want to be there. And I just couldn't get inspired by someone who didn't want to be there”
Hilary Swank

Elizabeth Barrett Browning
“O Life,
How oft we throw it off and think, — 'Enough,
Enough of life in so much! — here's a cause
For rupture; — herein we must break with Life,
Or be ourselves unworthy; here we are wronged,
Maimed, spoiled for aspiration: farewell Life!'
— And so, as froward babes, we hide our eyes
And think all ended. — Then, Life calls to us
In some transformed, apocryphal, new voice,
Above us, or below us, or around . .
Perhaps we name it Nature's voice, or Love's,
Tricking ourselves, because we are more ashamed
To own our compensations than our griefs:
Still, Life's voice! — still, we make our peace with Life.”
Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Aurora Leigh and Other Poems

Christie Craig
“Today, when I stepped outside, I got shit on by a bird. But I'm still going back outside tomorrow.”
Christie Craig, Shut Up and Kiss Me

Steven Redhead
“The difference between Success and failure is not giving up.”
steven redhead, The Solution
