Okay.

I have absolutely nothing to say about this really...

IF YOU KNOW HER is out.

Go forth...check out the book's page. If you want it, you can buy it now. It would mean lots and lots if you did.

A SHADOW IN THE WINDOW

Nia Hollister doesn't scare easily. Come hell or high water, she intends to find her cousin's killer. She returns to Ash, Kentucky, for answers. What she doesn't expect is to ache with desire every time she sees Law Reilly. If any man can help her escape the nightmares for a while, it's him. But can she allow herself to take comfort in those strong arms when a murderer still roams free?

Unknown to Nia, as she quietly slips into Law Reilly's home, is that she's being watched—by someone who is waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Timing is everything, though he can't wait forever. If she's not frightened, she soon will be. Nia has made a vow to find her cousin's killer. She should be careful what she wishes for.

Guest blog…Lynn Viehl

Lynn Viehl is guest blogging with us today...she's got a new series coming out, LORDS OF THE DARKYN. The first book, NIGHTBORN, is due out 3.6.2012.

And this post...killed me dead... LOL

Ten Things You Don't Know about Me and Shiloh Walker

By Lynn Viehl

When I couldn't think of any cool names to serve as an alias for the protagonist in Frostfire, I borrowed hers (without asking, actually, but it was the night before my deadline was up and I figured she'd say okay.  I then promptly forgot to tell her about it.)
She is one of only a handful of writers who pulled off an ending I never saw coming (Quinn's book.)
Our friendship ranks among the top five of the longest I've ever had with anyone.
I buy all her books, which also have their very own shelf in my book room.  Which will soon be two shelves if she keeps on being so prolific.
She has strange psychic e-mail powers; her funniest always arrive in my inbox at the exact moment when I'm thinking of doing idiot things like deleting my blog or unplugging from the internet for good.
Some of my highest praise for another female writer is that she doesn't suck up or take crap from anyone.  Shiloh earns this praise more often than any other female colleague of mine.
Her first e-book is catalogued as E-1 in my personal digital library because it was the first e-book I ever owned and, in fact, started my e-book collection; she was also the first e-book author I got to know personally (this all happened way back when everyone besides me considered e-books truly evil and their writers definitely Satan's minions in disguise.)
She is one of the toughest writers I know (hide of titanium), and also one of the kindest (heart of marshmallow fluff.)  That's a mix you rarely find in this business.
We've never met in real life, but judging by photographs, we look alike enough to be mistaken for siblings (as long as I can be the much older sister.)  Our hair is the same length, we're about the same height and weight, and the glasses she wears have the exact same frame as mine.
Speaking of pics, Shiloh is the only writer who hates being photographed as much as I do, which is why this* is my favorite photo of her.

*It also proves that she can blur reality and warp time, tricks I'm still waiting for her to teach me.

(added by Shiloh, if I can do those things, I wanna know how I'm doing it...)

Thanks to Lynn for coming by...and there's a giveaway...You all suck.  Because I want the prizes.  But good luck.  ;)  To enter, just leave a comment or question for Lynn. :)

The prize:

The bear is a new ultra-soft Ganz teddy in lavender, to which I added a French-themed stamped floral ribbon around the neck.  He's holding a real lavender French sachet handmade by yours truly.

FYI, if you're new here, make sure you check out my disclaimer before you enter.  Entering means you've read the disclaimer and agree.  The big thing-I post winner's name here as way of notification and that's how you'll know.  Meaning you have to check back. I'll post the winner's name by the end of the week. If you don't check back, you don't know if you're the winner, meaning you can't claim it and you only have 2 weeks. Also, void where prohibited and all that jazz.  All rules are posted there.

Snippets! IF YOU KNOW HER

She came sauntering into the grill and if she realized everybody in there was staring at her, she didn't pay them any attention.  He suspected she noticed.  Suspected she'd even noticed him, sitting in a booth and chowing down on wings.   She wasn't one to miss things.

That bothered him, even as it excited him.

She'd be a fighter…like her cousin.   It was a thought that thrilled him, frustrated him.  He wanted her, could already feel that burn—but knew he couldn't risk this.  Not after Jolene.  Not only would it throw doubts on everything he'd done when he'd killed Carson, but there was no way he could take somebody like Nia and not have expect it to be noticed—very noticed.

The sort of notice that he would do anything to avoid.  So he would keep his distance, and he would content himself with his memories of her cousin…and thoughts of what it might have been like.  There wasn't much of physical similarity between the cousins.  Next to none.

But he could see…something.

Attitude, perhaps.  Arrogance. And strength.

She wasn't here to leave flowers in her cousin's memory.

He watched as she slid onto a barstool, watched as a few men shot her considering looks.   Three of them were married. Two started toward her side anyway.  He was considering moving to that empty spot himself.  He could be friendly, make small talk.  It would be…amusing, he thought, talking to her, trying to figure out just why she was here, even though he suspected he already knew.

But one man beat them all.

Law Reilly.

Saturday Snippets… author's choice!

Law had been shooting pool with a couple of the numerous Jennings boys when Nia Hollister came into the grill.

Silence fell.

Even though music still blasted from the jukebox, there was an odd hush.

He wasn't fooled into thinking she didn't notice.  Still, she didn't seem to pay any attention as she slid onto a bar stool and smiled at Leon, the bartender who had been working behind the counter for as long as Law had lived in Ash.  Law didn't think Leon had aged a day since Law had met him.  He was also sure Leon hadn't smile once in those nine years.

"Damn, ya see the ass on her?" Ethan Sheffield muttered.  One of the deputies from the sheriff's department, he was young, happily married and one of the biggest damn flirts in the whole damn town.

And while his wife understood Ethan's harmless flirting, Law didn't want the guy anywhere near Nia. Smacking the deputy in the gut with his cue stick, he said, "Play the next round without me."

Without waiting for a response, he headed over to the empty stool next to Nia.  It wouldn't stay empty for long, he knew.  Even as he settled on it, he saw a few familiar faces hovering close by, almost as if they were waiting to see if he struck out.

Screw 'em.

"Didn't know you were hanging out around town," he said as Nia's gaze slid his way.

"You didn't ask."

"True."  He nodded at Leon and the bartender brought him a beer.  "I'll tell you, if you're out looking for wild night life in Ash, you already found the hot spot."

An amused smirk curled her lips as she glanced around the small bar and grill.  With the music blasting from the juke box, the empty stage, and the booths roughly half-full, it was actually a fairly busy for the small place.  But he knew what it looked like—dead.

He liked it.

"I'll try to contain my excitement," she said, leaning in closer.

He told himself it was so she wouldn't have to raise her voice over the music.   And maybe it was.   It also brought her close enough that he could smell the scent of her skin, her hair…nice…

"You want to get excited, hang around a few weeks.  We start our county fair.  That gets really exciting."

"Hmmm.  What's the highlight…?"

the Friday 56…from super seekrit project

O.o

"Well, that's true. But still. We can pretend." I sat up and swung a leg over his hips. His hands closed over mine and I had to stop a minute just to enjoy the feel of it. Of him.

Snippets! IF YOU KNOW HER

Less than a week...

Some people bitched about the blue screen of death—the computer locking up on them.

Law's current problem was the white screen of death.   It wasn't writer's block.  He knew where he needed to be going with the story and he was getting there—slowly, but surely.  His deadline was getting close, but he wasn't worried about it.  He'd get there, he always did.

The problem was every time he paused to think through something—and that was often—he found his thoughts drifting.  Shit, screwing drifting.  That made it seem aimless, like there was no destination.

His thoughts were on a zipline, drawn straight to one place—to one person.  Nia.   And instead of the story, he'd find himself thinking about her.

Thinking. Wanting. Craving.  Twice, he even found himself thinking about heading to the hotel.  Once, he even made it all the way to the door before he stopped himself.  He couldn't be doing that.

Not yet.  What he needed to do was get his head on straight—as far as Nia went, whenever he saw her, the thought process stopped and he needed to get a grip on that before this went any farther.

It seemed like a good, simple, straight forward plan.  One he could stick to easy enough.  After all, she wouldn't be in town forever, and it wasn't like he had to go into town, right?

At the sound of the engine rumbling down his drive, Law's body sprang to immediate reaction.   Swearing, he shoved back from the desk he'd crammed along one wall and headed to the window, staring in disbelief as Nia came cruising down his drive.

"Nia," he muttered. "Fuck.

Oh, hell—that was a bad couple of words to use so close together, because that was exactly what he thought whenever he thought of her.

Mouth dry, he raked his nails down his stubbled jaw, glanced down at himself.  He'd showered that morning—only way to wake up, but he hadn't shaved since Friday and the jeans he was wearing had seen better days.  Hell.

This was stupid.  He was not going to stand there and worry about his fucking jeans, any of that shit—he wasn't Remy, damn it.  What in the hell did he care what clothes he was wearing, as long as they were clean?  He'd showered, he was dressed and that was all that counted, right?

He didn't even know why she was here, right?

But when she knocked, his body was already one tightly coiled spring and his blood boiled, burned.  Walking was an agony, his cock aching, thick and ready, even before he opened the door.  He could still taste her kisses, still feel how tight, how hot she was.

"Get a grip," he muttered as he reached out, opened the door.

Nia was staring off to the side, giving him another micro second to get a grip, not that it helped much.  As her head turned and her gaze settled on his, he was left standing there, floundering, burning…aching.

"Hey."

A smile curved her lips.

"Hey, yourself," she murmured, cocking her head.  "You up to much today?"

Law jerked a shoulder.  "Not much that has to be done, really."

She sauntered forward, closing the distance between them, and he tried to remind himself—he already decided he really needed to figure out just what was going on here, whether there even was something here…it was the smart thing to do.  The logical thing.  The adult thing.

But as he breathed in, her scent him, low and hard, spreading through him, heating his already overheated blood, fogging an already fogged brain.  She lifted a hand, rested it on his chest.  "Maybe I can come in for a while…"

DEAR@pinterest. YOU SUCK. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO MESS UP A GOOD THING.

Sigh.  I just had to do something painful.  Anybody who follows me on twitter will understand just how painful.  I'm a pinterest addict.  And I just...deleted...MOST of my boards.

I've always tried to be careful with my pinterest boards.

One of my favorite sites for inspiration is deviantart, but I steer clear of there in in general and usually don't repin anything without checking to make sure the creator is okay with it, because many of the artists sell their work.  Since they sell their work, they likely aren't fond of having it distributed for free.  I try to be conscious of this.

Other things, like recipes from recipes sites, images from IMDB, etc, I believed that as long as the source was credited, I was okay.

Then I read this... (via bizjournals.com)

As usual, the devil is in the details. Today, the 'details' are Pinterest operator Cold Brew Labs' terms of service. And by 'devil' I mean the following two excerpts:

By making available any Member Content through the Site, Application or Services, you hereby grant to Cold Brew Labs a worldwide, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, royalty-free license, with the right to sublicense, to use, copy, adapt, modify, distribute, license, sell, transfer, publicly display, publicly perform, transmit, stream, broadcast, access, view, and otherwise exploit such Member Content only on, through or by means of the Site, Application or Services

I don't like this.  Legally, I'm not entirely sure what all of this boils down to, but I do know I can't be telling them I've got the right to tell them they can resell something I post there.  I don't own it unless I've taken the picture.  I credit the source.  I didn't realize they planned on selling shit.

I've removed the majority of my boards for now.  The ones that remain are things like quotes, book covers, recipes that I've repinned and I may shut that one down and just repin from actual cook/recipe sources on pinterest.   I figure if they are posting the recipes, they don't mind if it's repinned.

I might look for more artists to follow, I don't know.  But I just have one thing to say to pinterst.

YOU SUCK.  Why do you have to mess up a good thing?

Snippets!

Just a week from tomorrow...

Staring at her averted face, Law tried to figure out just in the hell she wanted him to say—what she wanted him to do.  Would she be happier if he just told her to shove her apology?

Hell.  This wasn't familiar territory.

Looking away, he rubbed the back of his neck.  "Look, I just…"  Her gold eyes cut his way and he blew out a breath, struggling to find something, anything to say.  "Would you feel better if I told you to just fuck off?"

To his surprise, a faint smile appeared on her face, tugging up the corners of her mouth for the briefest seconds before dying.  "I don't know if I'd feel better, but it seems a lot more plausible than you telling me 'okay'.  I know I sure as hell wouldn't be saying okay to somebody who pulled the crap I had."

"Maybe you'd surprise yourself," he said softly.  If she'd seen the way she looked…And damn it, he needed to quit thinking about that.  Like now.  Although really, it wasn't that much better to think about how she looked now, either.  Even with that irritated look on her face, there was something so damn appealing about her.

"I don't think so."  She shook her head.  "I rarely surprise myself."  Then she sighed and flicked her fingers through her hair.  "I have to go. I'd say it was a pleasure seeing you but…well."

"You'd be lying," he finished.  "How about interesting?  I can't say it's ever been not interesting."

"Well, seeing as how you've met me all of twice."  The smile on her face now was a real one, at least.

He tucked the memory of it inside his mind as he watched her walk away.  He also lingered long enough to enjoy the view…hell, he was a guy, and it was too nice of a view to not watch it.
