We All Fall Before the Harvest is back!

Earlier this year (May 1st, to be exact) my novella We All Fall Before the Harvest went out of print. The book was originally published with Timber Ghost Press and they were absolutely fantastic to work with. But, after 3 years, I felt my little cosmic horror/noir book had gone as far as it could there.

The plan, at the time, was to leave it on the shelf for a bit. I certainly was in no rush to find it a new home. One day, yes, but not today. However, a friend sent me a message saying that they had some connections and would love to put me in touch with said connections. I figured what the hell, and said sure.

Flash forward a bit and I’m signing a contract with Broken Brain Books. Which means (as the title of this post said) We All Fall Before the Harvest is back! Or, to be more precise, will be soon. When exactly? Dunno. But soon.

I should have more info in the coming weeks (including a brand-spanking-new cover) so stay tuned!

The Roots Run Deep is Here!

The Evil Grows.

A young couple, enjoying a day in paradise, make a horrifying discovery on the beach after a terrible storm. A cable repairman must descend into the very earth itself to answer a call he may never come back from. A single dad loses his child in the neon guts of a fast food playland. The midnight shift at a county greenhouse turns violent thanks to some especially aggressive moths. A criminal from Detroit tries to rob the wrong donut shop. Children on their way to summer camp find a new mother in the unforgiving woods. A woman, lost in her own grief, must face her sorrow before it devours her. Fifteen stories of horror, fear, and dread that proves the roots of evil run deep.

“The Roots Run Deep is a hard-hitting collection of cosmic, weird, and fresh short horror fiction. C.M. Forest really brings it with one—a welcome sucker-punch of a book I never saw coming.”

CALEB STEPHENS

Award-winning author of

The Girls in the Cabin and Feeders

“I’m not sure I’ve ever read a collection that taps into such sheer variety of fears. He showed his talent with Infested, and it’s clear he’s taking his writing to the next level. Forest is one of the most imaginative writers in horror today.”

DREW STARLING

Bestselling author of

Sentinel, Nothus, and After

“The Roots Run Deep is a horror snack in all the best ways, Bite-sized, incredibly addictive short stories that’ll have you promising yourself that you’ll only indulge in one, only to find you’ve devoured the whole thing in a single sitting. Each tale was unique, engaging, and deliciously twisted. Not only that, they showed Forest’s evolution into the fantastic horror author he’s become. This collection was a treat.”

SHELLY CAMPBELL

Author of

Gulf and Breach

“This collection is an unsettling and evocative cornucopia of fears, some familiar, along with many brand new. Thanks to these stories, I have added quite a few items to my list of “hell no” places, creatures, and occurrences. The most noteworthy: moths, donut glaze, disappearing from existence, black slime covering the earth, and McDonald’s playland. If you’re looking for something refreshing in horror, just in time for spooky season, add this one to the TBR.”

BEN YOUNG

Author of Stuck

BookFest Windsor

BookFest is the biggest literary event in my neck of the woods and, in the past, I’ve only been as a spectator. That changes tomorrow.

I’ve been invited to participate in the Friday Night Fiction panel with fellow authors Carol Margaret Davison and Chris Kuriata!

If you’re in the Windsor/Essex area, consider grabbing tickets and hit up some of the panels.

Book Signing at Little Ghosts Bookstore!

I’ll be returning to the fantastic Little Ghosts Bookstore for a book signing on Sept. 21st. The event goes from 1pm to 3pm. Little Ghosts only carries horror fiction (which is awesome as hell) and, as if that wasn’t good enough, they also have an incredible cafe with many an option to keep you caffeinated.

If you’re Toronto on the 21st, stop in to Little Ghosts and say hi!

Little Ghosts Bookstore is located 930 Dundas St. W.

We Won!

I’m extremely pleased to announce that Infested took home the silver award at the 2023 IBPA Benjamin Franklin award ceremony for best horror novel!

Eerie River Publishing has made this book into so much more than I thought it could be, so a big thanks to them.

Now I just have to wait for my shiny, silver stickers to arrive so I can slap them on the book’s cover!

3 Big Events

Greetings all,

I have been absent here for a minute, and for that I apologize. However, my return coincides perfectly with three rather large events I’ll be appearing at in the near future.

First up is Fan Expo in Toronto.

I’ve long since dreamed of attending this massive convention and thanks to a recent invite, I will be. Not sure yet what I’ll be doing (readings possibly, a panel or two more likely), but I will be there doing something on Aug. 27th on the main stage in the horror section of the con.

Then I’m back in Toronto on Oct. 1st and 2nd for Horror-rama! I’ll be sharing a table at this event with Kate Dejonge.

And lastly, I’m in Niagara Falls (ON) Oct. 28th and the 29th for Frightmare in the Falls! I’ll be sitting with Eerie River Publishing for this one. Frightmare is another show that I’ve longed to attend, but until now, it just wasn’t feasible.

Hopefully I’ll see some of you at one (or, for the truly committed, all three!) of these great events.

Cheers,

Christian – C.M. Forest
