Redundant LJ Communities?
Hey all,
I'm going to delete
therealpzb
(the only PZB community I started on my own) at the end of this week; letting you know now on the off-chance anybody has posts there they want to archive. (And yes, screwing around to figure this out, I just accidentally deleted my own journal for about 30 seconds, in case anyone noticed.) It seems redundant to maintain these largely inactive communities now that I have open comments here on my journal. I'm kind of in favor of deleting
prime_liquor
and
I'm going to delete

Better
I want to tell you all that I am OK, but I've been putting it off because I didn't want it to come off all sanctimonious and wingnutty -- "Brothers and sisters, I was HEALED!!!" But the truth is that having a chance to pray at Our Lady of Good Counsel when it was open for Good Friday yesterday lifted the weight of guilt and sorrow from me. This was the weight I'd felt since I heard that David Mills died, no less tangible for being illusory. The fear that I'd somehow flung random hate into the...

Sowing
Thank you for all the kind comments in response to this morning's post. I want and plan to respond to some of them individually, but don't yet feel entitled to either comfort or absolution. And yeah, like I think I said, I know in my mind that I can't shoot magical death rays into anyone's brain, and so cannot have done this thing. But my heart ... isn't convinced.
Anyway, I managed to get some seeds started today: three kinds of cucumbers, three kinds of eggplant, Padron peppers, shiso, and l...

David Mills
I cannot find adequate words to express how terrible and irrationally, hubristically responsible I feel for the sudden death of Treme writer David Mills in New Orleans. I know in my mind that the insignificant vitriol in my post about Treme filming (now removed out of respect and pure superstition) could not have caused a man to have a brain aneurysm, but in my heart I feel that I hated him and did him harm. I didn't hate him personally, just as I don't hate my friends Tom Piazza and Lolis Er...

Schism
Probably this is naive and quite possibly it is also perverse, but I feel more optimistic about the future of the Catholic Church than I have at any time since I joined it two years ago. As a schismatic, I have never acknowledged the supremacy of the Pope or the hierarchy, and as you may know, when the hierarchy has messed with me, I've done my best to mess back. Now I see people who were horribly damaged by this same hierarchy messing back on a grand scale, and I see other lay Catholics and ...

I Said "Hangy Thing"
In the spirit of the wholly fake rivalry that has long existed between us (dating back to the dear old goth days of flappy bats vs. hangy bats), I'm attempting to prove
greygirlbeast
wrong about the death of Livejournal (and, I hope, also make her happy) by posting more here. I do enjoy the immediacy of Twitter, and it has probably been the most appropriate site for my scattered brain these last few months, but it's time to start marshaling some thoughts that are over 140 characters. I may ev...

Happiness
I feel I've been annoyingly negative lately, mostly because people have seemed somewhat annoyed with me. I'm never going to be your daily ray of sunshine, but for contrast, here are some things that are currently making me happy:
THE SAINTS WINNING THE FREAKING SUPER BOWL
The Green Goddess regularly breaking dinner sales records
Cats sparring
M*A*S*H DVDs
Having eggplants and tomatoes in the ground (well, the tomatoes are actually in containers)
The flowering of a bromeliad I thought was dead
That S...
