Fiction Friday: Keeper of the Stars
Her latest novel, Keeper of the Stars transports the reader to idyllic King's Meadow in Idaho. This time, the story focuses on Penny Cartwright who's life was upended when her brother is killed in a car accident. There is so much left unsaid between them that she transfers her grief and guilt to the man who was the reason her brother was driving. Trevor Reynolds doesn't know why, but he is compelled to keep a promise to his dying drummer Brad Cartwright. He finds himself in King's Meadow, not exactly sure what he should do or why. Rodney Cartwright isn't sure either, but he's willing to be a part of whatever God has in mind.

Finding Your Story in Community
Community is so much more. I have learned so many truths about my story as I have risked community. The Grove was one such risk. Each of these women are among my dearest friends and confidantes, but it took a risk to ask them to join in community with me. Community are the secondary characters, the mentors, the risk takers who help make me more than I am on my own.

Fiction Friday: Beyond the Silence
Beyond the Silence is a really enjoyable read, and I recommend it for those who love a historical set in the late 1800s and who appreciate a romance with a good mystery/suspense thread.

The Power of Words
I make my living with words. Whether’s it’s teaching graduate classes at a Big Ten university or writing, words are my livelihood. I’ve had a love affair with words since I learned to read. I still vividly remember being a first grader and told I couldn’t read a book because it was at a sixth […]

Fiction Friday: Mermaid Moon
I have loved Colleen Coble’s books for a long time. She writes gripping romantic mysteries that pull me deep into the setting and the characters’ worlds. There is always so much going on that it keeps me engaged in the writing. I think Mermaid Moon is Colleen’s best book to date. Mallory left home 15 years […]

7 Strategies when the writing life is lonely
A couple weeks ago I was talking to a good writing friend. She is successful. Her books are brilliant and award-winning. Yet she feels very alone in her journey. As I was chatting with her, I knew she was not alone. So many writers are naturally introverted. As such, they can attend meetings and feel disconnected. […]

What does it mean to be prolife?
I’ve been pro-life basically since birth. My mom shared a story of looking in a playpen at a friend and I playing as babies, and knowing that one child was missing. You see, I was born the year after Roe v. Wade was decided. It has impacted my life through that story and the activities […]

One Word: Audaciously Loved
As I start a new year, I'm wrestling with what does God want me to do, to learn, to be in this year. The message I'm getting is to accept His audacious love for me. That message is appearing from multiple places, persons, perspectives.
