Fiction Friday: A Fool & His Monet

It’s book deadline day! This next book will be headed to my editor at some point today. Woot, woot! Writing this one has been such a learning journey for me. Did you know that writers get to learn with each book they write? We do! And since it’s a day to celebrate be sure to […]

Speed Blogging Tips for the Busy Blogger

Some debate the merits of blogging as part of a writer's platform, but many publishers and readers still want to see that an author has a permanent way to interact with readers. In an age where social media rules and uses constantly change, it's also a good idea to have a presence that you own. But what do you do on the days you forget to write? Or the days where nothing much comes to you that seems worth saying? Here are a few tips to help you over the hump.

Anticipating Changes in the Atmosphere

Expectation: what is yours as it relates to God? #jesusiseverythingClick To Tweet On Saturday, my husband, older two kids, and I got to participate in the Outcry Tour. A tour of worship […]

Ebooks or Paperbacks?

The other day I woke up dreaming about the ebook v. paperback debate. It’s something authors do. Something readers probably understand. I am a give-me-a-physical-book-I-can-hold kind of reader. You see, while I’m an author I adore books! It’s not unusual for me to inhale two or three a week while managing the rest of my […]

Tools that Help Me Remember Book Details

One of my authorly quirks is that I like to keep my chapters approximately the same length, and I like to see the word count grow. Here's a quick snapshot of my word count spreadsheet. In this one I also track the day that each chapter occurs.

What Writing Has Taught Me About God

I’m neck deep in edits and writing on a book that’s due in April, and the process is really reminding me why I love writing. Why I feel it is more than a job…it’s a calling more than a job or drudgery. Do any of these reasons resonate with you? 1) Writing has been a […]

Practical Ways to Support Women in Crisis Pregnancies

For many of us, CPCs are well positioned to reach out to women in crisis with carrying support that is informed and tailored to their needs. My mind reels with all kinds of ways we could individually support these women: be ready to adopt if asked, provide mentoring to a new mom, help her find support at a CPC, pray with and for her, drive her to doctor appointments, help ensure she has a safe place to live, the list is endless. But for many of us, launching into an intense mentoring relationship with an expectant mom is daunting. We don't have the time, we lack the training, or we feel ill-prepared to step up for that role.

Fiction Friday: The Red Door Inn

The Red Door Inn is a story of broken people desperate to find a place. It is a story of finding family in unusual places, and finding out who you are when everything has been taken from you. It is a story of coming to a place of healing when you've been shattered and wonder how you could ever be put back together. There's a thread of romance, and a setting so exquisite I long to go visit: Prince Edward Island.
