Autumn comes before... Winter!
The days are getting shorter, the temperatures are dropping, the wind is blowing, and the snow line is dropping, above Chamonix...

Snow Tales and Powder Trails: Adventures on Skis by Steve BaldwinMy rating: 5 of 5 stars
There is an e-book available as well as the paperback version.
I was inspired to write this book a few years ago, after a dream. It is a series of my thoughts and on the mountains, inspired by my ski-focused adventures, including time spent in the Alps, Japan, British Columbia, and elsewhere.
There are stories, but there are photos too, from me and from some of the people who have shared my adventures along the way.

fall in the alps
It is nearly winter, with the magic of snow approaching, which originally inspired "Snow Tales and Powder Trails".However, autumn has its own magic, as you can see from these photos that I took during the last couple of weeks. Right now we have some classic late-year sunshine to enjoy.
Here is an autumnal quote from my second book, which I have started to write:
"...as the sky clears after the autumn storm the town exudes a different atmosphere. The air smells of forest and woodsmoke, glaciers and snow. The stars shine bright..., while below, the river bubbles its way downhill...
Freshly fallen leaves begin to collect in the quiet streets, adding a distinct musk to the other smells of the valley..."
