The Poetry of Science

This weekend, I’m delighted to be in New Orleans hanging out at familiar haunts and visiting with friends. I will be doing a book signing today at the Boutique du Vampyre Apothecary in the French Quarter at 725 St. Peter, just up from Jackson Square, starting at 3pm. I’ll be around as long as I have books and people are coming in to chat. I hope if you’re in the Crescent City today, you’ll stop by. The book I’m highlighting is Ordeal of the Scarlet Order, which is a novel partly set in New Orlea...

The Scarlet Order Vampires in New Orleans

This Saturday, I will be signing my Scarlet Order Vampire novels at Boutique du Vampyre Apothocary, located at 725 St. Peter in New Orleans from 3pm until 6pm or even later if people are still coming by. The shop is in the French Quarter near the corner of St. Peter and Bourbon Street, just up from Jackson Square. If you’ll be in town this weekend, I hope you’ll stop by. My featured book for the weekend is my newest novel, Ordeal of the Scarlet Order, which has several scenes set in New Orleans ...

Seven Magnificent Women

During my senior year at the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology, I spent a small part of every Friday traveling through the small town of Magdalena on my way to the Very Large Array radio telescope. where I worked on devices that would be used to seek out the best site for new millimeter array telescope. That telescope would ultimately be the Atacama Large Millimeter Array in Chile. More recently a dear friend recommended a book that opened in the town of Magdalena. In the book, the c...

Travel to New Worlds!

At Kitt Peak National Observatory, I’m proud to support a NASA-funded instrument called NEID deployed at the WIYN Telescope. NEID’s job is to gather data on known exoplanets, getting better information about orbits, sizes, and masses, plus following up on some exoplanet candidates initially detected by space-based telescopes such as Kepler and TESS. Steve Howell, who served as Kepler’s Project Scientist, was at one time WIYN’s Telescope Scientist. He came to me a few years ago and wondered if we...

Voyages through Time and Space

Summer is a great time for travel in the northern hemisphere where the days are long and there’s time to get out and explore. While traveling, I like to load up my e-reader with great books. If you’re in the southern hemisphere, it’s winter. Still a great time to have a good book ready for a long night. The Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale continues and today I present one title that will take you on an adventure through time and I present two more titles that give you an opportunity to travel to d...

Battles Between Good and Evil

Today, I continue highlighting books published by Hadrosaur Productions, which are on sale during the Smashwords Summer/Winter Sale Event. The sale gets its name because it’s summer in the northern hemisphere and winter in the southern. If you’ve not purchased from them before, Smashwords is a great place to grab ebooks. They’re available in pretty much any format you can imagine and they’re all free of digital rights management, so you can read them on any device you have.

Today, I’m offerin...

Adventures in the Weird West

I’ve been a fan of Weird Westerns ever since I first discovered the television show The Wild Wild West starring Robert Conrad and Ross Martin. I loved the idea of adding aliens, mad scientists, and maybe even some magic into the west. Later, I would discover comics like Jonah Hex and books like Stephen King’s The Gunslinger, which would increase my appreciation of the genre. Today, I’m highlighting four of Hadrosaur Productions’ Weird Western titles. The first two are short story collections by ...

It’s Time for Some Piracy!

My writing journey began in earnest with the series that would come to be known as the Space Pirates’ Legacy series. I published the first novel, The Pirates of Sufiro, in 1996. The series was picked up by LBF Books, which would be acquired by Lachesis Publishing. The series remained with them for some fourteen years until the rights reverted to me. In 2019, I released a new first book of the series called Firebrandt’s Legacy and then re-edited all the books for release through Hadrosaur Product...

Meet the Scarlet Order Vampires

Last year saw the release of my third Scarlet Order vampire novel. In it, the vampires learn more about the origins of vampire-kind, their place in the universe, and they begin to unlock why they have supernatural powers. The latest novel is a romp that carries you from Southern Colorado to Southern France and from Louisiana to Greece. This year, to entice you to dive into the series, I’m giving away the first book absolutely free. The second book will only be 99 cents and the new book will be h...

Discover the Hybrid Series

I came to know Greg Ballan during the time we were both published by Lachesis Publishing. When Lachesis decided not to take any new books for publication, I was fortunate to eventually acquire Greg’s Hybrid series for Hadrosaur Productions. This is a terrific series if you like superheroes. Of course, if you have a super-powered being, you have to challenge him with villains who push his powers to the limit. Greg does just that in this series. What’s more, we’re also bringing Greg’s Lost Sons se...
