Space Horrors – CJ Henderson

I first met CJ Henderson at the Opus Fantasy Arts Festival in Denver, Colorado several years ago. He was sitting behind a table selling an impressive number of story collections, all of them featuring one or more of his stories. As it turns out, CJ was a long way from his home turf in New York, but he travels to quite a few conventions over the year hawking his wares. You can read more about this in the June-July 2010 issue of the SFWA Bulletin where CJ has a great article called "Hitting ...

CopperCon 30

Over Labor Day weekend, I was honored to be one of the guests at CopperCon 30, held in Mesa, Arizona. The Guest of Honor was Stephen R. Donaldson. The other guests were Weston Ochse, Yvonne Navarro, and Mark Horning. Lots of other SF/F fans and writers were in attendance.

I feel like I have a bit of a history with CopperCon. CopperCon 14 was the first convention I attended as a dealer. It was held at the Francisco Grande Hotel in Casa Grande in 1994. Vernor Vinge was the guest of honor. ...

Space Horrors – Simon Bleaken

Simon Bleaken was not one of the people I invited to submit to Full-Throttle Space Tales #4: Space Horrors. However, based on the great response I've received to his story "The Sigil of Komashin" in Tales of the Talisman volume 5, issue 4, he probably should have been. The thing is, "The Sigil of Komashin" was the first story I'd purchased from Simon and the issue with his story came out after the invitations for Space Horrors had gone out. Fortunately, Simon sent a story called "Natural S...

Space Horrors – Glynn Barrass

This is the second in a series of guest blogs I'm hosting for authors in the anthology Full-Throttle Space Tales #4: Space Horrors. Today, we focus on Glynn Barrass and his story "The Walking Man." I first encountered Glynn Barrass when he began submitting stories to Tales of the Talisman magazine. He has a lot of talent and a good sense for horror. Without further ado, I'll let him take it away.

Martian Prometheus

A behemoth, stalking across the Martian landscape on two mighty legs...

Space Horrors

I'm just back from CopperCon in Phoenix where I was one of the author guests along with Stephen R. Donaldson, Weston Ochse, and Yvonne Navarro. I had an absolute blast. It was a delight meeting Tales of the Talisman alumna Marsheila Rockwell. I also had some great conversations with such folks as Rick Novy, Ernest and Emily Hogan, Eytan Kollin and more. On top of that, I had the opportunity to visit with friends from high school and before.

Unfortunately, I came home to a broken...

Catching up

To say this has been a busy summer would be an understatement. The big news for me personally is that I bought a house at the beginning of the summer and have been moving. This is my first time as an actual homeowner, so it's quite an adventure.

While moving, I finished work on Tales of the Talisman volume 6, issue 1 and shipped it out to subscribers and contributors. You can get the scoop on the issue at www.talesofthetalisman.com. I also finished work on the anthology Space Horrors and t...
