When Did You Choose to Be Straight? …Exactly

Five years ago Travis Nuckolls and Chris Baker conducted street interviews in Colorado Springs posing the question, “Do you believe homosexuals choose to be gay?”  The question was followed up with, “When did you choose to be straight?”  Interviewees stammered upon the realization that they didn’t actually make a conscious choice, revising their answer that perhaps homosexuals don’t choose either.

These two simple questions, revealing in themselves, beg two more not-so-simple questions whose answers could bring an end to the homosexual debate once and for all.  What exactly is it that we find most terrifying about homosexuality? Is it the fear instilled in us by culture and conditioning condemning homosexuality as deviant or is it the lack of information in general?

Nature’s Deviant?

The question of nature vs. nurture is tilting in favor of nature as the scientific community continues to research genetic, hormonal and even environmental factors that may influence sexual orientation.   Though scientific data may be necessary for legislating our moral compass, it really isn’t necessary to rely on others or their data when one can easily turn to Nature for answers.

As Creation holistically is a self-perpetuating force, functioning within mutually-beneficial and self-similar fractals (cooperatively), no phenomenon exists singularly, but will be found duplicated throughout Nature on the micro and even macro level Universally.

In Nature, we observe both hetero- and homosexuality in humans and the animal kingdom.  Over 1,500 species have exhibited homosexual tendencies, especially in social species.  This behavior serves not only for sexual pleasure but in the case of many species, such as lions, for bonding and in other species, dominance.

In humans, though environmental influences may encourage experimental sexual contact with the same sex over a single episode or even years, ask any mother if she knew her child to be gay even before the child came to fully understand it.

weirduniverse.grid-6x3THE UNIVERSE SEXUAL?

Let’s expand our inquiry to the entirety of Creation.  Remember that Creation, by its self definition, is a self-perpetuating force.  What is least understood and certainly not taught in our education system is that the Universe is also sexual in nature.  Let’s break this down a little further.

Our Universe is comprised of two complementary energy forms capable of creating matter.  The energetic forces of the Universe’s negative and positive charges, called Yin-Yang in Eastern Culture, are expressed as gender in human form.  One force expressing as two, they are the dynamic and originating force of Creation present on every level of life and the entire spectrum of Creation.

The Yin, or feminine primal force, is unlimited possibility as potential in formlessness. The Yang, or masculine, is consciousness as thought, will or intention.  These inseparable forces are equal and have existed simultaneously within our Universe.  One cannot exist without the other.  This refutes the notion that God is any singular gender, separate from Its creations, or that any part of Creation preceded any other.

Physical intercourse is merely one form of love-making.  All of Creation is a result of sexual exchange as Creation ceaselessly couples with itself inter-dimensionally.  Even you and I are “coupling” as you read these words.  See if you can spot the well-known pattern in the following numbers sequence.*

Out of no-thing, first dimensional masculine/feminine energy is coupling with itself, forming what is known as the Vesica Pisces or Womb of Creation—the second dimension.  The second dimension may be where the Higgs boson resides as scalar field-like potential energy.  As the first and second dimensions couple, the third dimension is borne under intense heat and pressure known as the Big Bang.  Only, the Big Bang did not occur just once.  The Big Bang IS occurring infinitely, the begotten Mother/Father God making love—more love, more of itself.

BORNE OUT OF MISUNDERSTANDING

Now that we understand all of Creation is making love in every moment, let’s delicately apply this knowledge at the human level in the simplest terms.  Creation means infinite expression.  If this is so, we will see masculine and feminine energy in many expressions.  In heterosexuality, the “hardware” matches the “software” in that perhaps the female form’s internal wiring will lead her to sexually prefer the opposite charge, her masculine counterpart.  Wouldn’t it also be possible for positive and negative energy forms to exist within one body in that the form is masculine, but the internal makeup is feminine?  Can you think of other forms of seeming paradoxical expression that exist?

The point is that it doesn’t matter the arrangement or the labels used to express these two primal forces that can never be torn asunder.  No matter what image you put to it, Creation (God) made it all and is it all.  The argument has been made that homosexuality is unnatural because it cannot conceive life.  There is not one single moment of Creation coupling with itself that doesn’t create more of Itself in some expression.  Even in heterosexual couplings, a child is not conceived every time.  Third dimensional form is just one possible outcome.

All of Creation desires to experience blissful union with Itself; our inherent and natural state. It is when love-making is reduced to the unconscious act of personal human physical gratification that true deviation occurs and meaning is lost.  Love defines all that is.  To deny another the ritualistic and symbolic act of Oneness because he or she doesn’t look like you is birthed out of ignorance and fear of what already is.  When we cease resisting the One meaning of all Life, then love exists simply in all of its expressions.

An Open Invitation to Dr. Stephen Hawking

[Note to Readers:  Dr. Hawking recently spoke to a packed house, second auditorium and a Jumbotron-equipped lawn at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, CA, on the evening of April 16, 2013.  He continues to assert that the Universe didn’t need divine help to burst into being.  What is the one world view, if changed, that would give scientists the Unifying Theory of Everything, topple religions and unite humanity?  I long for the opportunity to visit with the courageous Dr. Hawking to discuss the mysteries of the Universe.  In lieu of this, I’ve penned Dr. Hawking a note.]

hawking-simple-goal Dear Dr. Hawking,

I am not a scientist but I am a colleague of yours in the field of Physics.  Though our methodology vastly differs, the desire for intimacy, knowledge of and even to personally experience Universal Truth remains our common bond and the primary driving force behind our mutual and unceasing investigation of the Universe.  This desire is borne out of the recognition that all of life, including our own, despite personal struggle on a local level, is a gift.  And thus, the paradoxes begin…and never end.

Dr. Hawking, there is an infinite cosmos inside you as immense as the one that exists externally.  I know you know this, as the gift of your illness has given you the ability to “see.”  Yet, when one claims ownership of the inner cosmos, vision is reduced to insight.  One does not realize this until a conundrum arises that continues to elude us.

Thus, we come to the fundamental flaw keeping scientists from resolving the Unifying Theory of Everything.  Consider that the flaw is the world view that the Creator is separate from its creations.  Quantum mechanic’s most valuable contribution to date, in the breaking down of the whole into measurable parts, is the revelation that the observer is an intrinsic part of the investigation and cannot be separated from it.  A “coupling” is taking place with the observed.  Similarly a “coupling” is taking place between you and me via this letter.  An exchange is occurring that is forming something new.  You and I are witnesses to Creation unfolding before our very eyes.

Perhaps it’s time to reverse-engineer quantum mechanics, simultaneously recognizing that all parts behave in accordance and within a primary state of wholeness.  Can any part truly act independently of the whole?

You may perform your own internal inquiry by closing your eyes.  See the Universe that also exists within, beyond your thoughts. Hold this awareness as you open your eyes, keeping it in the forefront of your consciousness and observe that this awareness, as an all-pervasive reverent stillness, exists whether the eyes are open or closed.  The line between the internal and external Universe; even between form and formlessness is imaginary.  That Creation exists simultaneously as both is but one of many paradoxes now coming to light in human consciousness.

That there is a line between Creator and created, divine and otherwise is also imaginary.  This is the fundamental flaw in all Creation allegories; the true Original Sin.  Quantum mechanics has also proven that the lighting of the “blue touch paper” of Creation is by Creation Itself.  Local couples with non-local, and in every combination, proving that even relativism is imaginary.

We are here as part of the infinite expression of Creation; its own self-definition—as Creation itself.  As Creation exists in perpetuity, there is no part of Creation that is not coupling with itself in any given moment; with matter as one of many possible outcomes.  M-theory, with its multiple states of existence, is coming closer to Universal Truth, but is still just a larger fragmentation until we can expand our world view and recognize wholeness as causal.  To continue to explore the Universe externally relative to its parts through analysis of processes without also exploring it internally and as the whole, is to move forward with one eye closed.

Therefore, I invite you to the upcoming online launch of Bodhi UniversiTree.  BU invites all to explore our Universe based on a more holistic approach merging the left (science) and right (spirituality) hemispheres of the brain for a deeper, more mature understanding of God/Creation, who we are and why we exist.

Esteemed Regards (and Love),

Christine Horner

SERIES: What is God? (Part 3/3) Who’s In Charge?

All human activity is predicated on what we believe about God. Even in the most remote regions on Earth, indigenous cultures alike retell fantastic stories of something much larger than themselves woven into the tapestry of their lives. Our thoughts, whether consciously or not, loosely formulate around the essence of this mysterious force we cannot see, but have been told exists.

blog-lightbulbWith the popularity of The Bible series on the History channel and increasing interest by the media in general, it seems now is the appropriate time to re-open the dialog, “What is God?”  If this seems ridiculous to you, then stop and look at the ridiculousness of human behavior in the 21st century.  Though technology has surged forward exponentially in the last century, it seems the same struggle and strife found in the Bible and throughout recorded human history exists at similar levels today.  So what’s going on?  Either the faithful following the Law of Love do so only when it’s convenient, or perhaps there’s something more.

CAN WE REALLY SEPARATE CHURCH AND STATE?

Consider that all you know about God has been passed down to you via historical documents and culture and conditioning.  As a child, you may have been instructed to obey a condemnatory God, existing beyond our reach at the apex of the heap that metes out reward and punishment based on your blind obedience.  These beliefs have allowed mankind to replicate a hierarchical, power-over structure rooted in exclusivity.  But is there an apex?

The belief in a separate God is the co-conspirator to our social, economical and political structures. Rather than recognizing our neighbor or neighboring country as a necessary component to our own well-being, individuals, collective groups and nations play economic and literal hitman and we seek to compete with our neighbor for the abundance our home planet abundantly and freely provides.  Over three billion people are left in poverty and despair with band-aid relief, lacking adequate food, clean water, shelter, healthcare and education—all in the name of Democracy, Capitalism, and even God.

When you walk into a forest or eco-system, who is in charge?  When we contemplate God, all the Omni- words come in to play.  Omniscient, Omnipotent, Omnipresent…  Does God as Creator direct Creation from a disconnected Heaven or is Creation imbued with the same qualities as the Creator so that the acorn grows into a tree under its own power?  Or birds journey migratory patterns utilizing their own internal guidance systems—what we call instinct.

By self-definition, Creation is infinite possibility or more accurately infinite expression.  By that same self-definition, Creation exists in perpetuity.  Its own power source, Creation produces more of itself, the third dimension as part to the whole.

Breaking it down further, third dimensional existence is subject to the Law of Conservation which states that the sum of all energy is constant; energy neither created or destroyed, merely changing form.  When life “dies,” its form seems to disappear into formlessness for a time (death), recycling into different form as it re-couples with the rest of Creation.  This cyclical pattern is referred to as the Circle of Life.  When this is truly understood in its entirety, you see that Creation is form and formlessness—a paradox just coming to light in human consciousness.

A ROSE IS A ROSE

blog-africaAs Creation is self-sustaining as a whole, each part, or fractal is also self-sustaining in the role it fulfills.  A rose is a rose; the Serengeti, the Serengeti; the Milky Way galaxy is the Milky Way galaxy.  The caveat being that each fractal would necessarily exist in mutually-beneficial, self-similar relationship with other fractals.  Thus, once again it is seen there is no separation.  Think of the Universe as a giant quilt.  It would appear to be random when comparing arbitrary sections, but viewed in its entirety it is a single blanket, as if homogenous in nature.  Where is the apex?

What if the world has got it wrong and the Creator is not separate from us, but IS us, as part of the totality of Creation?  If humans wish to continue acting out the story of separation, taking a predatory position at the apex of the heap here on Earth, we will continue to harm each other and our home planet.  Any human construct requiring blind obedience with no room for inquiry is itself blind, ensuring its own, and our own, demise with its built-in self-destruct mechanism.

Are you ready to deconstruct everything you’ve been told about God by your culture by going within under your own power and trying again?  If you truly believe we are all one, the first thing that will become abundantly clear is that peace first begins with you, not your neighbor.  If peace begins with you and there are nearly seven billion “you(s)” on the planet, who is in charge?

Are you smiling yet?

SPECIAL REPORT: Global Warming Inside Out

OM Times Magazine[As Featured in OMTimes Magazine Online]  “While humans are contributing to global warming, we are not the cause, and is part of Earth’s cyclical processes”.  This unpopular post of mine a couple of years ago on Facebook rounded an immediate chorus of vehement denial followed by a slurry of supporting media articles links, not to mention a few rude remarks.

My own thought processes were based on:  Though humans can and are doing an inordinate amount of damage on this planet, the sustainability and viability of this planet as a living organism is far greater than our own as a species.  This planet has endured cataclysmic events from magnetic pole reversals, ice ages, to megalithic volcanic and seismic activity, not to mention asteroid collisions and destruction caused by its own evolution.  Species, including dinosaurs, have come and gone due to inadaptability to the changing conditions here on Earth, of which no doubt they contributed to.  Species extinction, in reality, is minimally due to human activity except in most recent history.

blog-solar-flareMy postulate remains and it seems that recent scientific findings lend possibility to such a scenario based on a New York Times report on a paper led by Frédéric Parrenin of the University of Grenoble, in France, scheduled for publication in the journal of Science March 8, 2013.

So what caused the warming 20,000 years ago, after the cyclical gravitational tugs by Jupiter and Saturn that elongated Earth’s orbit around the sun induced the ice age?  Intensification of sunlight.  Scientists believe that this intensification flushes CO2 out of the ocean in the way same way that bubbles arise out of soda as it warms.  The latest research, according to the NY Times, has it that the warming came with the rise in CO2 , rather than lagging behind 800 years, “…the sharp warming that ended the last ice age occurred in lock step with increases of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.”

The key point that must be considered in the important finding that warming/CO2 are interconnected is intensification of sunlight.  Solar flares and activity have increased over the last 100 years.  In 2003, Richard Willson, a researcher affiliated with NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University’s Earth Institute, New York was the lead co-author of a study published in Geophysical Research Letters.  The study states:  “Historical records of solar activity indicate that solar radiation has been increasing since the late 19th century. If a trend, comparable to the one found in this study, persisted throughout the 20th century, it would have provided a significant component of the global warming the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports to have occurred over the past 100 years.”

A more recent 2009 study by Willson and Nicola Scafetta examines data regarding changes in total solar irradiance (TSI), concluding: “This finding has evident repercussions for climate change and solar physics. Increasing TSI between 1980 and 2000 could have contributed significantly to global warming during the last three decades. . . . Current climate models . . . have assumed that the TSI did not vary significantly during the last 30 years and have therefore underestimated the solar contribution and overestimated the anthropogenic contribution to global warming.”

THE GREAT DIVIDE

In the most recent research published in the journal Science also on March 8, 2013, scientist Shaun Marcott and his colleagues compiled the most thorough approximation of global temperatures for the last 11,300 years.  In summary, the paper offers that variations in sunlight and changes in the earth’s orbital wobble contributed greatly to what is now know as the Holocene period after the ice age.  This warming period allowed mankind to rise to global prominence.  The paper goes on to document a temperature plateau, a cooling, followed by a temperature spike known as the Medieval Warm Period and then the cooling trend we were on, headed toward another ice age.  Until…

And herein lies the contentious divide in scientific community—the elephant in the room.  Is human activity causing all, part or possibly even having little effect on global warming?  Some scientists believe that the “human induced” current spike in warming temperatures will stave off the next ice age while others believe Earth orbital changes will override any warming trend.  Interestingly, current dire global warming projections and warnings do not even take solar activity into consideration.  And what about the three year solar minimum study ending in 2007, published in the journal of Nature, that linked declining sun spots to contributing to global warming?

Let’s not quibble that humans are contributing to rising CO2 at a non-sustainable rate.  Consider, though, that we have detonated over 2,000 nuclear bombs in testing, a couple in warfare and dumped an unfathomable amount of chemicals into the air and ocean, and yet this stunning cerulean blue ball we call home remains in a state of flux and will out-survive ignorant human behavior rooted in short-sightedness.

Is this an excuse to carry on post-haste with carbon emitting fossil fuel consumption when alternative solutions are known and with the swipe of a few pens strokes, could become part of this country’s new economy, rather than its current military/industrial base?  Absolutely not.  In case you are considering how much you like your SUV’s v8, the planet, in its own survivability will not permit you to keep it.  We are already seeing this is so.  Our home base is a “self-cleaning unit” and will continue to ramp up conditions contrary to human habitation to restore balance in the air, on the land, and in the sea.  In addition, Earth and even Solar System-wide cyclical processes trump what amounts to be a blip of human activity in the grand history of this planet.  If you like extreme temperatures and weather conditions, carry on.  As long as we take the planet out of balance with negligent behavior, harsh conditions will persist.

Our external point of view might reveal that humans, though significant for our taking and lack of giving as inhabitants on the planet, in and of ourselves as an animal species, are more like fleas on the back of a dog, currently a parasitic relationship with the planet until we decide to “grow up”.  Capable of making conditions unbearable for ourselves, it is highly unlikely we can “kill” the planet and more likely the planet can rid itself of us.  And this is a good thing.

Yet, this is tempered with further consideration.  One’s interests, rooted in serving the good of all, would never blindly support any one/group’s agenda or trending movement.  In generating a balanced and inclusive understanding of Creation and the human condition, we would first start by going within.

WITHIN OUR EXTERNAL WORLD

blog-earthThe Earth’s current condition and our relationship to it is metaphoric of a larger point of view that demonstrates the symbiotic relationship within all of Creation.  The Earth is affected “up the line” by cyclical orbital changes as well as “down the line”—human activity.  It is not one or the other, it is both.  We are affected by Earth’s cyclical changes, orbital changes and solar changes.  We are also affected by the changes we create within our eco-system as a result of human habitation.  Creation begets more creation, rippling both up and down its fractal-like nature in the way a stone sends ripples in all directions upon hitting the water.  From formlessness to form and back to formlessness, a “coupling” is always occurring that does not just affect the part, it systemically affects the entire elephant.  The symbiosis between form and formlessness, both energy forms known as the Divine Paradox, is the most mysterious of all.

The disharmony and imbalance being created on the planet by CO2 “pollution” is a mirror image of the disharmony and imbalance we carry within us individually and collectively as we focus on our external world, neglecting our internal world.  Equally as important as the material world is the non-material world within, by whatever name you wish to call it, that reminds us that we are not our body, but there is non-physical aspect to our “being” that is you beyond the thinker.  (Human-Being)  It is when we lose sight of our being-ness that we author our own suffering as we beget binary logic leading to irresolvable debate (pollution).  This is what we are seeing manifested in our external world right before our very eyes.  In Eastern practices, it is said our yin and yang are out of balance.

As you review the studies cited in this article, you will note enough contradictions in them that would lead you to believe we really don’t know how much we are contributing to global warming.  What the human knows is but a glint of sunlight across the pond of your soul that ripples throughout all eternity.  The human without the being will always devolve into chaos.  Instead, reconnect within.  Lounge daily in the eternal silence of your beingness, inhaling deeply the spaciousness of your Infinite Self.  This is where balance is restored and where you will find peace despite the noise and chaos of the world around you.  As you reconnect with all aspects of Creation, you see you are one with Nature and to cause nature harm is to cause yourself harm, for we are one.  Choice is then easily revealed for ourselves and for our home planet.

SPECIAL REPORT: Global Warming Inside Out

201304b-cover [As Featured in OMTimes Magazine Online]  “While humans are contributing to global warming, we are not the cause, and is part of Earth's cyclical processes”.  This unpopular post of mine a couple of years ago on Facebook rounded an immediate chorus of vehement denial followed by a slurry of supporting media articles links, not to mention a few rude remarks.

Solar flareMy own thought processes were based on:  Though humans can and are doing an inordinate amount of damage on this planet, the sustainability and viability of this planet as a living organism is far greater than our own as a species.

My postulate remains and it seems that recent scientific findings lend possibility to such a scenario based on a New York Times report on a paper led by Frédéric Parrenin of the University of Grenoble, in France, scheduled for publication in the journal of Science March 8, 2013.

In 2003, Richard Willson, a researcher affiliated with NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies and Columbia University's Earth Institute, New York was the lead co-author of a study published in Geophysical Research Letters.  The study states:  "Historical records of solar activity indicate that solar radiation has been increasing since the late 19th century. If a trend, comparable to the one found in this study, persisted throughout the 20th century, it would have provided a significant component of the global warming the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reports to have occurred over the past 100 years.”

A more recent 2009 study by Willson and Nicola Scafetta examines data regarding changes in total solar irradiance (TSI), concluding: "This finding has evident repercussions for climate change and solar physics. Increasing TSI between 1980 and 2000 could have contributed significantly to global warming during the last three decades. . . . Current climate models . . . have assumed that the TSI did not vary significantly during the last 30 years and have therefore underestimated the solar contribution and overestimated the anthropogenic contribution to global warming."
