Kitsnaps: Mara
Mara: the September picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
Maras are South American rodents which look precisely like jackalopes; all they lack are the horns. They’re very very shy and extremely sweet-seeming creatures, but I have no idea, possibly they go all vorpal bunny on you if you get in their faces. :)

Magic & Manners crowdfund
I mentioned this on various social media yesterday, but I’m still thinking about it now, so I’ll post here with more thought and detail.
I’m enormously enjoying writing MAGIC & MANNERS, my Pride-and-Prejudice-with-magic pastiche, and I’ve been contemplating what to do with it. I’d like to keep going, but being a writer, I’d also like to get paid for my words (crazy, I know!). I’m also particularly enjoying the whole no-particular-deadline aspect, which means I don’t know that I want to sell it...

boom: it’s a draft
Ten days and 35K later, STONE’S THROE can be called a draft. It’s a god-awful mess and needs serious revision, but the draft is done and the rest can be fixed. By Wednesday. @.@
Actually, there are parts of the book I’m happy with, and it came in at the wordcount I was aiming for, so I’m okay with that. And, er, I actually find that having finished it, I’m kind of hoping for the chance to write The Further Adventures of Amelia Stone, so I guess we’ll just have to see how the book does. :)
Um. Y...

baklava!
O.M.G.
I sent my friend Marc some fudge in December because, er, well, frankly, he made it easy by just posting his address on one of the pictures of fudge I’d posted, and it amused me, so, fudge.
I just got the same container back in the mail, except now it was filled with Marc’s baklava.
Let me explain this to you: Marc’s baklava is to regular baklava what my fudge is to regular fudge. I got the package and was all like “Oh huh, mail from Marc, maybe he got something to say thanks for the fudg...

Kitsnaps: Zen Master
Zen Master
Zen Master: the August picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
I actually have quite a few good orangutan pictures, almost none of which I’ve posted. But once I’m done with the calendar images I’m going to try to, er, post not-animals for a while, so there may not be any orangutans to show off despite having good pictures of them. :)

Kitsnaps: Tortoise
Tortoise
Tortoise: the June picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
Frankly, my favourite thing about doing my own calendar is that I get to choose my favourite picture to put on my birthday month. My mother thought I was totally bonkers when I mentioned that to her, but in general I’ve found that June’s picture in a calendar tends to be kind of crap, so I get a lot of satisfaction from using one I really love. :)

OMG, it’s Petite!
Wrong color, but O.M.G:
1969 Boss 302 found in a barn after 40 years of sitting idle.
I can’t run a Kickstarter that fast, can I? I’ll pay you back if I win the lotto, I swear…!

mutter.
I do not want to be writing. :p I’m pretty sure that this is more because I’ve done about 15K in the past 3 days and yet somehow I’m Still Not Done than it is about having messed the book up (often not wanting to write means I’ve done it wrong, but in this case I think my butt is just numb and is affecting my brain), but man, I don’t want to write. So part of my brain is trying to tempt me with Other Projects (“It’ll be more fun! It isn’t Work!”) while the rest of my brain is going “the book...

GGK Book Club: The Summer Tree, ch 1-4
We’ll be reading the whole of GGK’s works in publication order over the course of the year. January’s novel is THE SUMMER TREE, first of the Fionavar Tapestry, and since it’s a tidy 16 chapters, we’ll be reading (or at least discussing) 4 chapters from TST every week.
A comment from me as the moderator/organizer of this project: GGK does not work for everybody as a reader. In fact, he seems to either really work or really not, so if you’re coming to these books fr...
