Frankly, my favourite thing about doing my own calendar is that I get to choose my favourite picture to put on my birthday month. My mother thought I was totally bonkers when I mentioned that to her, but in general I’ve found that June’s picture in a calendar tends to be kind of crap, so I get a lot of satisfaction from using one I really love. :)

GGK Book Club: The Summer Tree, ch 1-4
Welcome to the GGK Book Club!
We’ll be reading the whole of GGK’s works in publication order over the course of the year. January’s novel is THE SUMMER TREE, first of the Fionavar Tapestry, and since it’s a tidy 16 chapters, we’ll be reading (or at least discussing) 4 chapters from TST every week.

s8 Supernatural
So I watched s7 Supernatural because they introduced Amanda Tapping as a character in s8 and I wanted to know how they got there, and they’ve just done it, but my God, s8 has been a snoozefest so far. I read LIES the year it came out, or close enough to count. In the intervening years I’d pretty well forgotten everything about it except that it was tremendously cleverly written and that somebody died, which is to say, there was a specific death I remembered.

Hippos are not especially easy creatures to take a cool picture of. They tend too much to looking like giant blobs, whether in the water or out. But I rather liked this one, albeit with a gladness that I was not anywhere near where she could suddenly lunge out of the water and lumber toward me… :)
