Kitsnaps: Tortoise
Tortoise
Tortoise: the June picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
Frankly, my favourite thing about doing my own calendar is that I get to choose my favourite picture to put on my birthday month. My mother thought I was totally bonkers when I mentioned that to her, but in general I’ve found that June’s picture in a calendar tends to be kind of crap, so I get a lot of satisfaction from using one I really love. :)

OMG, it’s Petite!
Wrong color, but O.M.G:
1969 Boss 302 found in a barn after 40 years of sitting idle.
I can’t run a Kickstarter that fast, can I? I’ll pay you back if I win the lotto, I swear…!

mutter.
I do not want to be writing. :p I’m pretty sure that this is more because I’ve done about 15K in the past 3 days and yet somehow I’m Still Not Done than it is about having messed the book up (often not wanting to write means I’ve done it wrong, but in this case I think my butt is just numb and is affecting my brain), but man, I don’t want to write. So part of my brain is trying to tempt me with Other Projects (“It’ll be more fun! It isn’t Work!”) while the rest of my brain is going “the book...

GGK Book Club: The Summer Tree, ch 1-4
We’ll be reading the whole of GGK’s works in publication order over the course of the year. January’s novel is THE SUMMER TREE, first of the Fionavar Tapestry, and since it’s a tidy 16 chapters, we’ll be reading (or at least discussing) 4 chapters from TST every week.
A comment from me as the moderator/organizer of this project: GGK does not work for everybody as a reader. In fact, he seems to either really work or really not, so if you’re coming to these books fr...
Kitsnaps: Sea Lion
Sea Lion
Sea Lion: the May picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
This was *not* an easy picture to take. I had a lot of pictures of empty water, and a lot of chasing my son away from the tigers… :)

BatB & thinks to do
Oh hey, we’re starting our BatB re-watch on Wednesday! Since it’s being arranged by people on Greenwich time, I expect we’ll be watching at about 8 or 9pm around here, which is bloody inconvenient for Americans, but we’ll open a discussion post on one of our blogs and we can all have a little geekfest if anybody else wants to join in. :)
Seriously, guys, that’s all I’ve got for content this morning. I spent the entire weekend writing. I know nothing of any interest. I haven’t even watched the...

Hungry Giraffe
Hungry Giraffe: the April picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
Giraffes are such lippy animals. I love ‘em. :)

s8 Supernatural
So I watched s7 Supernatural because they introduced Amanda Tapping as a character in s8 and I wanted to know how they got there, and they’ve just done it, but my God, s8 has been a snoozefest so far. I mean, I’m one of those who thinks the show ended with s5 and that they’ve been beating a dead horse, pretty boy style, since then, but this is worse than s6. Particularly since the meta commentary with the classic rock has apparently been canned (Laura Anne says this is themeatically appropria...

Recent Reads: The Lies of Locke Lamora
Jesus.
I read LIES the year it came out, or close enough to count. In the intervening years I’d pretty well forgotten everything about it except that it was tremendously cleverly written and that somebody died, which is to say, there was a specific death I remembered.
I did not, however, remember the rest of the appalling brutality that went along with that specific death. It was nearly like reading the book entirely fresh: it was still tremendously cleverly written, but sweet mother of mercy,...

Kitsnaps: Swimming Hippo
Swimming Hippo
Swimming Hippo: the March picture for the 2014 CE Murphy photographic calendar.
Hippos are not especially easy creatures to take a cool picture of. They tend too much to looking like giant blobs, whether in the water or out. But I rather liked this one, albeit with a gladness that I was not anywhere near where she could suddenly lunge out of the water and lumber toward me… :)
