Don't believe modern preachers, unless...

Despite what modern preachers tell you, becoming a Christian does not "improve" your life on this earth, or guarantee that you will be insulated against the pains of everyday living (those who believe otherwise don't know their Bibles). This media interview is evidence of that:

Many contemporary atheists are the tragic result of an unbiblical gospel. Never believe a preacher, unless it can be substantiated by the Scriptures. For Evangelism Resources, please...

I Blew it . . . Big Time

If I wasn't a Christian and watched secular television, I don't think I would be an atheist, but I certainly would be anti-religious. Common sense would have steered me in that direction.

I don't know how many times I have seen the secular media devote TV news time to a knot in a tree that looks like the face of Jesus, or a pancake that looks like Mary.

Recently the media devoted about five minutes of the news hour to a religious woman who found a stain in one of her cooking pots, that looke...

It's Sunday again. Welcome to Atheist Church

Man was created to worship God, but in his ignorance he worships nature, movie stars, makes idols out of musicians and adores them. He falls in homage before the gold calf of Wall Street, and yet none of these things are worthy of the honor due to the Creator. With that thought in mind, look at and listen to this wonderful clip:

Today's Sermon is once again taken from Luke chapter 2:

"Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the f...

The Ex-Christian Atheist

"Ray, Could you explain to me what it means to 'know the Lord'? I often hear you ask 'ex-Christians' (in quotes for your benefit) if they 'knew the Lord'. I would like to better understand your relationship with the Lord. How do you communicate with Him? How does He communicate back? In what way can one know that they know the Lord in the same manner as you? Thanks, Jay."

This is a great question. Let me first explain why I use the wording "know the Lord." This is the biblical definition of a ...

Plain Facts

"If something as simple as matter requires a creator, why doesn't something as complex as God? If something as complex as God doesn't require a creator, why does something as simple as matter?" -- Hawker Hurricane -- Dave B

For those who don't know, the Hawker Hurricane was a British single-seat fighter aircraft that was designed and predominantly built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. Presumably the person who said the above knows that, and he considers himself to be a real fighter.

However, his quote ...

Mark and Albert's Common Belief

Vukota said...I just wanted to say Ray that I love your blog. I have no doubt that your blog has swayed far more people on the fence to the rational atheist side than your God-fearing Christian side. Anyways, since we're going around quoting Mark Twain, I'd like to leave you with my personal favorite quote of his:

'If I were to construct a God I would furnish Him with some way and qualities and characteristics which the Present lacks…He would not have the spirit of vengeance in His heart...

Who Says I Don't Believe in Aliens?

"Wait a second... I think I've figured out the ruse here. At some point, Ray is going to blog about a comment from this post, and say that in order to 'believe' in extraterrestrial life, we'd have to have knowledge of the entire universe. Then we'll be told that if we 'believe' in extraterrestrial life, we should have no trouble believing in his God. Does that about sum it up, Ray? Did I pick your petty ploy?" Sarah

Unfortunately, you are incorrect in your assessments on two counts. The first...

Do You Believe in Evolution?

"Froggie said... Ray, 'Froggie...you certainly are a believer.' No, I certainly am not. I am an analytical, empiricist."

"It is absolutely safe to say that, if you meet somebody who claims not to believe in evolution, that person is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but I'd rather not consider that)." -- Richard Dawkins, quoted from Josh Gilder, a creationist, in his critical review, "PBS's 'Evolution' series is propaganda, not science" (September, 2001).For Evangelism Resources, please...
